WASHINGTON, DC: The drama surrounding the pronunciation of Vice President Kamala Harris' name does not seem to end anytime soon. The 59-year-old biracial Democrat's name has been the center of debate as many Republicans, including former president Donald Trump, have frequently mispronounced it.

Despite the backlash, the GOP presidential nominee refuses to use the proper pronunciation, saying last month that it can be said as "Ka-ma-la".

"You can say Ka-maaa-la," Trump said, adding he "couldn't care less" if it was wrong.

Now, former CNN host Don Lemon has come forward to criticize Trump and teach him the correct pronunciation of Kamala.

In a video message posted on X (formerly Twitter), Don Lemon took a moment to teach how to pronounce Kamala Harris' first name.

The video started with a clip of Trump saying, "Did you know that the Kamala Harris," where the real estate mogul stressed the second syllable.

A visibly irked Lemon twice repeated the correct pronunciation of "Kamala," urging Trump to use the right pronunciation.

"If you really want someone to listen to what you're saying, you should probably pronounce their name right," the ex-CNN host said before explaining it is said, "Comma...la." He shared the video with the caption "KA-MA-LA. Say it with me, @realDonaldTrump."

Besides his wrong syllable stress, Trump last week botched his Democratic rival's name, calling her "Camilla", who is the Queen consort of the United Kingdom.

Republican Rep Nancy Mace also found herself in hot water after purposely mispronouncing Harris' name during a recent CNN panel, irking other panelists.

Harris' first name is a nod to her Indian heritage, and it means the lotus flower, according to her 2019 memoir 'The Truths We Hold: An American Journey.' The vice president also gave the right pronunciations, i.e., "Comma-la." She was born to an Indian mother and a Jamaican father.

Prior to Harris' ascension into the 2024 race, the Biden-Harris campaign frequently criticized Republicans for mispronouncing the VP's name, deeming the intentional errors as racist.

Internet slams Don Lemon as he teaches Donald Trump to pronounce Kamala Harris' name

Netizens condemned Don Lemon for his effort to teach Donald Trump the pronunciation of Kamala Harris' name. Some pointed out that he was silent when the same happened to former GOP primary candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and the VP's policies, and now her name was the issue.

"Yall were mighty quiet when they were mispronouncing Vivek," a user said.

"Don, I’m pretty sure most in the world listens to what he says, including u! Having people listen to him is not a problem for him. Don’t be jealous because not even a fraction of people listen to u!" another remarked.

"Nobody cares about how to pronounce her name, or her pronouns, or her gender identity. We care about her policies and her policies suck," read a third response.

"This is cringe, even for you," added a fourth user.

"This is probably why you got fired," a user said.

"Funny to see this dude posting on X so much after getting SCORCHED by Elon. Also nobody cares if someone mispronounces aher name," someone else chimed in.

"Don, this whole disrespect thing y’all are doing isn’t working. You and your colleagues have demonized Trump and disrespected him for years. You don’t get to play the high and mighty “respect” card now," another user wrote.

"Good lord. Grow up. Democrats mispronounce her name all the time. You guys are babies," an individual added.
