Doug Emhoff's ex-wife criticizes Sarah Sanders' biological children remark, calls Harris 'pretty humble'

WASHINGTON, DC: Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff's ex-wife Kerstin Emhoff has come to Vice President Kamala Harris' defense after she was criticized for not having biological children.

Kerstin, who shares two children with the Second Gentleman, criticized Sarah Huckabee Sanders for stating Harris lacks humility due to not having children.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who served as Trump's White House press secretary before becoming the governor of Arkansas, made these comments at a cmapaign event at town hall in Flint, Michigan, with Donald Trump on Tuesday, Spetember 17.

“You can walk into a room like this where people cheer when you step onto the stage and you might think for a second that you’re kind of special,” Sanders said, adding “Then you go home and your kids remind you very quickly that you’re not that big of a deal.”

She maintained the theme of humility before transitioning to discuss the Democratic presidential nominee.

"So, my kids keep me humble,” she said to the crowd, pausing for a few seconds. “Unfortunately, Kamala Harris doesn’t have anything keeping her humble," she said.

The comments follow Senator JD Vance's resurfaced remarks about "childless cat ladies" along with Taylor Swift's powerful endorsement of Harris and an apparent jab at Vance's cat lady comments.

Kerstin Emhoff defends Kamala Harris against Sarah Huckabee Sanders

Doug Emhoff's ex-wife, Kerstin, couldn't mince any words and lashed at Sarah Huckabee Sanders for her remarks against Kamala Harris who has been a setmother to her children Ella, 25, and Cole, 30. 

Her role as a stepmother has earned her the affectionate nickname 'Momala.' Kerstin, who supports Harris' campaign, has also been vocal about embracing her stepmother role. The vice president joined their blended family in 2014 when she married Doug.

“Kamala Harris has spent her entire career working for the people, ALL families,” she wrote on X, formerly Twitter, in response to Sanders’ comments. “That keeps you pretty humble,” Kerstin added.

For almost 10 years, Kamala has been a co-parent with Doug to Kerstin's children.

"She is loving, nurturing, fiercely protective and always present. I love our blended family and am grateful to have her in it," she said on the Tucker Carlson show, according to Daily Mail.  

Internet praises Kerstin Emhoff's defense for Kamala Harris

Kerstin received praises for her response to Sarah Huckabee Sanders' remark about Kamala Harris. Supporters called her response "classy" and appreciated her standing up for Harris.

"Being a step-parent keeps you humble. Not an easy role. Your family is an inspiration for what is possible," wrote one in support of Harris on X. 

"I hope Sarah Huckabee Sanders' children are ashamed of her. They should be," wrote another. 

"Classy response to a classless, vile person," one more wrote. "You’re amazing Kerstin!!!!" commented one, praising the second gentlemans ex wife. 

"Truly thank you for your rapid unabashed response to this BS! These people clearly live in the past," wrote one more.
