Pollack had not previously disclosed his wife's illness, making his announcement all the more shocking.

While Lindsey tends to stay out of the public eye, she and David have dedicated themselves to philanthropy through the Pollack Family Foundation, which promotes fitness, nutrition, and healthy lifestyles while raising awareness about childhood obesity.

The couple shares two children - son Nicholas, a high school junior, and daughter Leah, a high school sophomore.

Lindsey Pollack was behind David Pollack's football triumphs

Lindsey Pollack, a Lilburn, Georgia native, earned her early childhood education degree from the University of Cincinnati before pursuing further studies at the University of Georgia.

Fate seemed to work in David's favor when their paths crossed in Georgia, and their bond only grew stronger over time, as per Essentially Sports.

As David achieved major milestones, including being named the 2002 SEC Player of the Year, 2004 SEC Defensive Player of the Year, and winning both the Lombardi Award and Lott Trophy in 2004, Lindsey remained his unwavering support system.

Before his career as a TV personality, David was a standout college football player at the University of Georgia.

The couple also officially launched The Pollack Family Foundation in February 2016. The foundation aims to positively impact communities by empowering families in the Athens and Greater Atlanta area, focusing on faith, family, and community, with a vision of thriving communities and strong families, as per the Pollack Family Foundation website.

David became just the second Bulldog to earn first-team All-American honors three times, joining the legendary Herschel Walker.

His promising NFL career with the Cincinnati Bengals was tragically cut short in his second season when a devastating tackle broke one of his vertebrae.

Though he miraculously avoided paralysis, doctors ruled it too dangerous for him to return to the sport.
