'Pretty traumatic': Fans distraught as Nicki Minaj shares she sat in Amsterdam 'jail cell for 5-6 hours'

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND: Nicki Minaj shared with her fans that she was held in a jail cell for five to six hours after the authorities arrested her at Amsterdam airport.

Earlier on Saturday, the American rapper was detained at the Dutch airport and was held for a prolonged time. The 41-year-old rapper was scheduled to perform in Manchester at 10 pm on Saturday.

The Dutch authorities arrested the ‘Barbie World’ singer alleging she was carrying drugs to England. As a result of the arrest, her Manchester show had to be canceled.

Taking to her social media, the rapper had previously informed her fans about her arrest. Later in the evening, after settling down in her hotel room in Manchester, the ‘Everybody’ singer shared more details about her plight to her fans.

Nicki Minaj was detained for five to six hours

Minaj wrote on X, “Thank you to everyone who prayed for me today. May God cover you & all that is connected to you. May you be blessed beyond your imagination.  

Addressing her fans, the ‘Tusa’ artist wrote from her Manchester hotel, “Barbz, I’m @ the stock exchange hotel in #Manchester I arrived a little over an hour ago.”

She shared that even after her release, her flight took another 20 minutes to start. Minaj wrote, “After sitting in a jail cell for 5-6 hours, my plane still didn’t take off for another 20 mins once I boarded.”

She emphasized, “The flight was 50 mins. 50 mins.”

“That’s why they had to do the big song & dance b/c they knew I’d still find a way to perform even if it came down to my last 90 mins in the building which would have been until 1130pm. The building was willing to go past 11pm. So grateful to them for that,” continued the star.

The star, who previously live-streamed her arrest, wrote on her post, “So they succeeded at their plan to not let me get on that stage tonight. I succeeded @ getting to the root of it all by recording them & posting everything in real time. I have sooooooooo much video evidence. You wouldn’t believe it if I told you.”

They continued, “I’ll have the lawyers & GOD take it from here tho.”

She also apologized to her fans for missing the show, writing, “Please please please accept my deepest & most sincere apologies.”

“They sure did know exactly how to hurt me today but this too, shall pass,” shared the singer before adding, “They’ve been doing this over & over & over & over & over again & I’ve tried so hard to not discuss it b/c you guys deserve to just get the good stuff. I hate involving you in anything that isn’t for entertainment purposes only.”

She declared that her show will be postponed, saying, “We will have another date for tonight’s show shortly & I’ll probably be able to share it tmrw. One July option & one June option is currently being discussed.”

“I’ll find a way to not only make up the date with the performance but I’m going to create an added bonus for everyone that had a tkt for this show. Promise,” added the star.

She has, however, declared that her Birmingham show on May 26 and the second Manchester show on May 30 were still on.

On Saturday night, Minaj again wrote on her X, "I hear yall. How did yall get here so fast?!? Finally a smile. Thank you. 2 mins. But not so loud. It’s almost 2 in the morning ppl tryna sleep 🥳🫶🏽."

Nicki Minaj's fans are heartbroken

Minaj's fans were distraught at her plight as they took to social media to offer soothing words to the embattled songstress.

One of the fans said, "I’m really sorry you had to go through all of this… it’s heartbreaking. I’m glad you’re safe and sound. I love you so much 🫶🏻❤️."

Someone else added, "I’m so sorry this happened to you. you did not deserve an ounce of stress or worry today. YOU are our priority & we are glad you’re safe at your hotel."

"5-6 hours…. i’m in tears. i love you nic im so fkng sorry they did that to you," said another fan.

A social media user added, "You sat in a jail cell for 5-6 hours? that must've been so scary for you... WE LOVE YOU NICKI."

"We love you, we are just glad you’re safe and sound. 🤍 your mental health and safety are all we care about," declared a distraught fan.

A fan added with relief, "So glad you’re safe. Take it easy tonight… I’m sure today was pretty traumatic. Your fans know your heart and how bad you wanted to make it happen for them."

"I’m so sorry you had to go through this. I love you, we love you and will stand with you 4L 🙏🏽♥️," said another.
