Fans gush as Taylor Swift and Jay-Z raise toast to Beyonce’s historic Album of the Year Grammy win
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The moment the BeyHive had been waiting for finally happened - Beyonce just won her first-ever Album of the Year Grammy, and her pal Taylor Swift was right there to celebrate. She won it for country album 'Cowboy Carter'.
Fans are already obsessed with what went down inside the Grammys, because not only did Queen Bey finally get the AOTY she’s deserved for years, but her fellow nominee and longtime friend Taylor Swift was caught on camera raising a glass in her honor - with none other than Jay-Z.
Taylor & Jay-Z clink glasses in celebration
Cameras inside the awards show caught a rather rare moment: Taylor Swift, 35, and Jay-Z, 55, smiling, clinking champagne glasses, and saying “cheers” as Beyonce took the stage with her daughter Blue Ivy to accept the biggest award of the night.
For those keeping track, this is the first time in her career that Beyonce has won Album of the Year. Fans have spent years calling out the Recording Academy for snubbing her in this category, and it seems justice was finally served tonight, Elle noted.
Swift and Beyonce were both up for Album of the Year alongside Andre 3000, Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish, Charli XCX, Jacob Collier, and Chappell Roan—but this time the win was all Beyonce’s and Taylor was nothing but supportive.
Earlier in the night, the two icons shared another heartwarming moment when Taylor presented Beyonce with the Best Country Album award. They embraced onstage before Beyonce gave her speech.
Swift also raised a glass to Kendrick Lamar’s Record of the Year win, even though she was nominated in that category too. She and Lamar go way back - the two collaborated on “Bad Blood” during the 1989 era.

Beyonce’s acceptance speech and friendship with Swift
For her big Album of the Year moment, Beyonce kept her speech short and took a moment to acknowledge firefighters, songwriters, and music industry trailblazer Linda Martell in her remarks.
“I’d like to thank and acknowledge and praise all of the firefighters for keeping us safe,” she began. “I just feel very full and very honored. It’s been many, many years. I just want to thank the Grammys, every songwriter, every collaborator, every producer, all of the hard work. I want to dedicate this to Ms. [Linda] Martell, and I hope we just keep pushing forward, opening doors. God bless y’all. Thank you so much. Thank you.”
While the two superstars have largely kept their friendship out of the spotlight, Swift has made it very clear just how much Beyonce means to her.
Back in October 2023, Beyonce showed up at the premiere of Swift’s Eras Tour concert film and Swift took to Instagram to express just how much that moment meant to her: “I’m so glad I’ll never know what my life would’ve been like without @beyonce’s influence. The way she’s taught me and every artist out here to break rules and defy industry norms. Her generosity of spirit. Her resilience and versatility. She’s been a guiding light throughout my career and the fact that she showed up tonight was like an actual fairytale. 😇🙏🥹”

Fans are losing it over Taylor Swift and Jay-Z toast
Even though Taylor walked away empty-handed -- she was nominated for six Grammys and won none -- she still had the best attitude about it, and fans couldn’t help but gush over the moment she raised her glass to Beyonce.
"This is gonna be an iconic moment soon....that's all I'm saying," one posted on X.
"She has wanted this for B. I refuse to believe the swifties. It’s like sitting around the Christmas tree with a mess of family and all the presents are for you. Crap feeling," another offered.
"&& this is why I love her, TS! She is truly happy for others even if she didn't win; she wins every day in our hearts and minds - a devoted swiftie," someone else chimed in.
"She’s always supporting other artists around her but she was robbed tonight," read a comment.
"She truly is so humble and cannot be a mean girl and I truly love that for her because I will be out here with all the mean bones in my body until the day I die over her not getting this Grammy," another added.
