WASHINGTON, DC: Former chair of the Republican National Committee Michal Steele lashed out at ex-president Donald Trump's claims that his MAGA movement has taken over the GOP, reported Mediaite.

Steele, the first African American to become the RNC chair, fumed in anger after MSNBC's 'The Weekend' played a video clip of the former President making the claims at a North Carolina rally on Saturday, March 2.

"And they say, always try to demean, 'Well, MAGA really represents 48% of the Republican Party.' No. It represents 96%, and maybe 100%. We're getting rid of the Romney's of the world! We want to get Romneys and those out. But they know that we are the only ones who can stop them," Trump claimed.

Concerns about the GOP frontrunner filling the GOP into a MAGA group grew after he endorsed his staunch allies, North Carolina Republican Party Chairman Michael Whatley for RNC chair and his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, for co-chair.

Steele, who is also the co-host of 'The Weekend' expressed his fuming outrage at Trump's claims by labeling him the "biggest RINO," a short form for Republican in name only, which is a political pejorative used for insufficiently conservative Republicans.

The former RNC chair challenged the White House hopeful, saying, "Game on, Trump. Game on. I've been in this party since 1976. If anyone is the biggest RINO, it's you. And we are coming for you. So, just so you understand, you drew the line, baby. I'm stepping up to it, and a whole lot of Republicans out there, at least 40 percent or more, are stepping to that line, too. So you just need to chill on that."

Calling Trump the "biggest RINO" multiple times, Steele slammed the ex-president for tricking everyone into portraying him as the "conservative standard bearer." Unable to contain his fury, Steele took the opportunity to argue the former President's party was shrinking, citing he failed to win any elections other than his own.

He also took a swipe at Trump's 2020 election loss to President Joe Biden. "You're not winning this one because you didn't win the last one," Steele asserted. The White House hopeful continues to deny his loss, saying the election was rigged.

"I'm sick of this crap from these crazy folks that think that they are now the anchor of Republicanism. You're not, just trust me, you're not," he added.

The former President's attempts to fill up the RNC with his MAGA allies were previously criticized by GOP members, including presidential hopeful Nikki Haley, who argued Trump was using the party's primary committee as a "piggy bank" for paying his mounting legal expenses.

Internet says GOP is already MAGA

Refusing to back Steele's remarks, netizens pointed out the bitter truth that MAGA has already taken over the GOP.

One user said, "Michael Steele is still in denial. MAGA absolutely HAS taken over the GOP."

"He can be sick all he wants, it's the truth. There is no RNC anymore," another person remarked.

A user added, "Anyone can see that this is true!"

"Maga has taken over the Republican party. Those who are conservative but a never Trumper hav lost their party," someone else wrote. While another user simply stated, "But they have."
