LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Singer and songwriter Gwen Stefani, who once shared the screen with Leonardo DiCaprio as his love interest in 'The Aviator' in 2004, recently took a walk down the memory lane.
During a candid conversation about her iconic style, Stefani revealed a surprising tidbit—she almost shared a kiss with DiCaprio. She also admitted that she never imagined she would star in a movie, let alone play DiCaprio's on-screen love interest. These confessions came as Stefani opened up about some of her favorite fashion moments in an interview with Harper's Bazaar.
Gwen Stefani shares memorable moment involving Leonardo DiCaprio
In a video shared on Harper's Bazaar's YouTube channel, titled, "Gwen Stefani Has a Uniform for Feeling Like Herself on Stage | Fashion Flashback | Harper's BAZAAR", Gwen Stefani opened up about a memorable moment involving Leonardo DiCaprio.
She confessed, “Not in my wildest dreams would I ever imagine I would be in a film, But not only was I in a film, but I was in a Martin Scorsese film playing Jean Harlow, and I almost got to kiss Leonardo DiCaprio."
To provide some context, the pair starred together in 'The Aviator', with Stefani playing the role of Jean Harlow, the iconic 1930s blonde bombshell, while DiCaprio portrayed Howard Hughes.
Stefani laughed as she added, “But I didn’t get to, so too late for that.” She went on to explain, “I didn’t have any skills, I just tried out.”
Stefani recalled the experience as “one of the most incredible, scary experiences.” She added, ”I went to the Bel-Air Hotel, and they were just literally trying out girls—just walking in and trying out. I remember I walked in, did the scene, and they were so nice. Martin made me feel so normal and comfortable, and I got the part!"
She continued with a laugh, “I had like 3 lines, but I got the part, okay?”
Stefani’s acting story came after she shared that she almost landed the role of Jane Smith, the wife of a married spy, in the 2005 film 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith'. She revealed, "I feel like I almost got it,' 'I went to a bunch [of auditions].”
She added, “[It was] very competitive and I wanted to do it, but I wanted to do music more.”
Gwen Stefani hints at next chapter in her life
Gwen Stefani's recent revelation about almost kissing Leonardo DiCaprio comes as insiders hint at the next chapter in her life, which appears to be influenced by her husband, Blake Shelton.
The singer seems to be stepping away from 'The Voice', following the conclusion of Season 26 of the NBC music reality show. Stefani, who joined the show in Season 7 and returned in Seasons 9, 12, 17, 19, 22, and 24, is reportedly taking a break from her judging duties.
A source told the US Sun, "She has said several times while filming that she’s even more of an ‘emotional wreck’ this season than she ever has been."
The source added, "It was nonstop emotions, crying throughout this entire journey, but you can tell it’s mostly rooted in joy and deep pride for the work she’s done."
While Stefani has not officially announced her departure, the insider explained, "It seems like she's quitting."
The source went on to say, "She really found a second home in Oklahoma, and seeing Blake walk away from the show and prioritize his own music and their family life I think made her realize what her next chapter can look like."
Notably, Stefani appeared nervous while mentoring her contestant Sydney Sterlace in 'The Voice' Season 26. "She looked really, really nervous before performing which most likely led to the mistake. She was able to recover well, though."
