Gypsy Rose Blanchard spills tea on why she will get paternity test only after birth of her child
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Gypsy Rose Blanchard has reportedly planned to get a DNA test for her baby to confirm paternity after she gives birth in 2025, since it is a more cost-effective choice, according to TMZ.
On August 19, the media outlet reported that Blanchard, 32, opted for a post-birth test since it’s significantly cheaper - costing around $150 to $200 compared to the $400 to $2,000 price tag for a prenatal test, as noted by the American Pregnancy Association.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard sure it's '100 percent Ken’s baby'
The American Munchhausen-by-proxy survivor has made it clear: Ken Urker is the father of her child, despite the tricky timeline.
“It was mid-March when I left Ryan,” Blanchard shared in a candid July interview, US Weekly reported. She added, “So this is absolutely 100 percent Ken’s baby. There was never any question of paternity.”
But a month later, her estranged husband, Ryan Anderson, 38, announced his intention announced his intention to get a DNA test to settle the matter.
“I’m going to have to get a DNA test,” Anderson revealed during an August TikTok live attributing it to Louisiana law, adding, "It is what it is since we’re going through a divorce.”
Reportedly, under Louisiana law, if the baby is born before their divorce is finalized, Anderson could legally be listed as the father.
However, if Urker wants to be named on the birth certificate, Anderson could sign an affidavit to confirm the child’s true paternity.
Anderson admitted he doesn’t “have a choice” in the matter, though he also expressed doubt that he’s the father.
“The way the timeline matches up — I don’t think it’s mine, but I don’t know,” he reflected. “The DNA test is going to prove it. Crazier things have happened. I just don’t know. I have my thoughts and I have my opinions.”
Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ken Urker to welcome daughter in 2025
Gypsy Rose Blanchard, announced in July that she’s expecting her first child with boyfriend Ken Urker.
She first connected with Urker in 2018 while incarcerated for plotting the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, in 2015 with her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn. Urker reached out as a pen pal following the release of the documentary 'Mommy Dead and Dearest'.
They became engaged that same year, with Blanchard describing Urker as her "first love" due to their deep connection, according to People.
However, their relationship ended in 2019. Blanchard later married Ryan Anderson in July 2022 while still in prison, but the marriage was troubled, leading to their separation in March 2024 due to Blanchard's concerns about Anderson's controlling behavior.
Following her divorce, Blanchard rekindled her relationship with Urker in April 2024.
The two reconnected emotionally, got matching tattoos, and were seen publicly together, indicating that their feelings for each other had never truly faded.
The couple announced that she is pregnant with their child in July 2024, and expecting to give birth in January 2025.
