WASHINGTON, DC: Democratic Rep Ilhan Omar issued a blistering response on social media following President Donald Trump’s latest criticism, stating his “Trump’s obsession with me is beyond weird. He needs serious help.”

Trump on Tuesday, December 9, took a jab at the Somali-American lawmaker, repeating that she had committed immigration fraud by marrying her brother and suggested that she should be "sent back to Somalia."

Ilhan Omar took to X to dismiss Trump's criticism, she wrote, "Trump’s obsession with me is beyond weird. He needs serious help.”

She continued, "Since he has no economic policies to tout, he’s resorting to regurgitating bigoted lies instead. He continues to be a national embarrassment."

Her strong rebuke came after Trump intensified his rhetoric toward Omar, criticizing both her and Somalis

Trump’s criticism on the Minnesota representative

During the event at Mount Pocono casino in Pennsylvania, Trump did not hold back in criticizing Omar, referring to her as “this Ilhan Omar, whatever the hell her name is, with the little turban.”

He launched into a critique of her presence in the US and her home country, Somalia. “I love her. She comes in, does nothing but b—h.. She’s always complaining. She comes from her country, where I mean, it’s considered about the worst country in the world, right?”

Trump continued to highlight the critical situation in Somalia, claiming, "They have no parliament. They don’t know what the hell the word parliament means. They have nothing. They have no police. They police themselves. They kill each other all the time."

Trump reiterated the citizenship fraud claim

During the rally, Trump repeated the claim that Omar married her brother to illegally gain US citizenship. “She married her brother in order to get in, right? She married her brother," Trump told the crowd.

He drew a critical comparison, asking, “Can you imagine if Donald Trump married his sister? Beautiful. She’s a beautiful person. If I married my sister to get my citizenship, do you think I’d last for about two hours? Or would it be something less than that?”

The claim led to a loud “Send her back!” chant from the crowd.

Trump concluded his criticism by raging, “We oughta get her the hell out,” adding, “She married her brother to get in. Therefore, she’s here illegally. She should get the hell out. Throw her the hell out. She does nothing but complain.”

It is to be noted that the president's remarks come amid increased scrutiny over the $1 billion fraud scandal in Minnesota, which has involved individuals from the Somali immigrant community.
