CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE: New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu slammed former President Donald Trump, claiming he has "no energy" ahead of the state primary on January 23, reported The Hill.

Sununu, who has endorsed Nikki Haley, speaking to CNN's Jake Tapper, argued that the former South Carolina Governor is the only major challenger to the Republican frontrunner.

"So you know, it's all about the voter turnout," the governor said on CNN's 'The Lead.'

"It's all about the enthusiasm; where's the energy? Not just what people say on the phone or how they, you know, respond to an online text or something."

Sununu, who recently pledged to vote for Trump if he is the party's presidential nominee, added, "It's really about the energy of that campaign. Trump has no energy — the guy can barely read a teleprompter right now. All the wind is behind … Nikki's sails. So I just think the sky's the limit."

The Republican primary race for the 2024 presidential election has narrowed down to a Trump vs Haley race after Ron DeSantis suspended his campaign and endorsed the former President on January 21.

Chris Sununu says Nikki Haley does not need endorsements from her ex-rivals

Stating the former UN ambassador does not want "establishment endorsements," Sununu said, "She doesn't want any of them. She really doesn't. Look, Trump has … gone from the disrupter to this establishment guy. He's never held the Senate accountable. Nikki Haley wants term limits. She says none of them should get paid unless they actually do their job."

Haley recently revealed that she would not accept ex-rival Chris Christie's endorsement.

However, former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, who had shown no momentum in GOP primary polls, endorsed her days before the Granite State's primary.

Besides DeSantis, Trump, with an open hand, accepted an endorsement from Vivek Armasawamy after he exited the race following his poor performance at the Iowa caucus.

In less than 24 hours, New Hampshire's registered Republican and independent voters will head to choose their presidential primary.

According to the latest CNN/University of New Hampshire polls, the former President has 50% voter support in the Granite State while Haley stands at 39%.

If Trump wins on January 23 by a large margin, it could effectively end the Republican presidential primary race.

Internet reacts to Chris Sununu's remarks

Netizens trolled Sununu for criticizing Trump and his campaign, pointing out he would eventually kiss the ex-president's ring.

One user remarked, "Oh, Sununu? Absolutely. He's a flip-flopping Republican fish."

Another user opined, "He’s going to kiss the ring eventually, they all are not an ounce of integrity. Before Maga I thought he was one of the normal ones."

"Sununu is there to try and goad President Trump into an emotional response so Haley can warp that and yet play another card while calling him a misogynist. Like a beta cheerleader/ provocateur," read a third response.

One user mockingly stated, "And that is why Sununu is voting for him." A fifth user added, "But he'll still kiss the ring."

"NARRATOR: And after Haley flames out if not in NH, then SC, he'll endorse Trump, and probably use a teleprompter. Set your watch by it," said another user.
