Here's how Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez's children are coping with their messy divorce

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s children are ready to move on from the couple’s official split. 

On August 20, the ‘Jenny From the Block’ singer put months of speculations to rest when she filed for divorce from her husband of two years at the Los Angeles Superior Court. 

Amid news of their divorce, sources close to the blended family say that their children are ready to “move on.”

The source close to the family shared with Page Six, after Lopez filed for divorce without taking any assistance from an attorney, that the children are moving forward with the news. 

The source shared, “His kids are taking it fine as are hers,” before adding, “Everybody is ready to move on.”

While ‘The Mother’ star shares her twins - Max and Emme, 16, with her ex Marc Anthony, Affleck co-parents his three children - Violet, 18, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner.

After their parents rekindled their romance in the summer of 2021 following their 2004 break up, all five children grew close to each other. 

They shared time together at malls, parks, and amusement parks as well. Both Lopez and Affleck too grew close to each other’s children over time. 

After the pair tied the knot first in July after eloping to Las Vegas and undergoing a traditional wedding ceremony in Affleck’s lavish Georgia estate, the stars started spending time with each other’s children. 

The estranged spouses even supported each other when they went for their respective children’s functions. Prior to the divorce filing, the ‘Selena’ star was seen spending quality time with Affleck’s daughter Violet in the Hamptons last month. 

Lopez also went for a shopping trip with the ‘Gone Girl’ actor’s youngest Samuel on August 12.

Given the sensitive nature of the divorce as five adolescent children are involved, a source close to the family shared with Entertainment Tonight that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez "are trying to make this transition as easy as possible and be gentle on their children. They don't want to make things more upsetting than they already have been."

The source added previously, "Ben certainly doesn't want to cause any strain between Jen and Violet, and he is in support of them spending time together. It's a little tricky for him, but both Jen and Ben want all their kids to be happy, regardless of the issues they are facing in their marriage."

"They are hoping to have clear, new, and healthy directions for themselves and for their families. They are trying to be strong, but it is a sad time for everyone, and it is difficult to have to deal with everything playing out publicly," further noted the insider. 

Another source added, that the estranged couple are "trying to be as amicable as possible. They still want the best for everyone involved. including their kids, the rest of their families, and shared friends." 

Another source further added that despite the divorce, Violet would continue to speak to her stepmom JLo.
