In a confessional, Hilaria revealed, "When Alec was charged the first time, Carmen would not be alone in a room for months. We had to move a bed into sleeping with the boys."
"She has a fear of: 'Is our family going to be torn apart?' So with that, there is an awareness of what's going on," she shared.
The most heartbreaking moment, Hilaria said, came when Carmen asked her a difficult question the night before Alec was set to travel to New Mexico for the trial.
"Carmen asked me last night, 'When Daddy goes to New Mexico, do I have to say goodbye to him? Like, I have to say goodbye to him for a long time? Should I say goodbye to him in a special way, like I won’t see him for a long time because they're trying to take my daddy from me?'" she added.
Overcome with emotion, Hilaria admitted she had to be honest with her daughter, according to People.
"And I said, 'Yeah, you should.' And she just lost it," she recalled, breaking down in tears.
"We've never even been away from each other for three weeks. So if he goes there, that's never even happened," said Hilaria.

Inside 'The Rust' shooting case and legal battle
The incident that led to Alec Baldwin’s trial took place on October 27, 2021.
While filming the movie 'Rust', Baldwin was holding a prop gun when it unexpectedly discharged, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring writer-director Joel Souza.
The tragedy sent shockwaves through Hollywood and led to a lengthy investigation.
Baldwin was later indicted for involuntary manslaughter, but his trial in July ended with the judge dismissing the case with prejudice after his legal team successfully argued that prosecutors had withheld key evidence.

Throughout the ordeal, Baldwin has maintained that he did not pull the trigger and could not have known that the gun contained live ammunition instead of dummy rounds.
Despite the case’s dismissal, the emotional toll on the Baldwin family remains immense.

"We’re just trying to keep our kids feeling safe and loved," she shared.
"But it’s hard when they see everything happening around us. It’s hard when they ask questions you don’t have the perfect answers for," she added.
