LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Prince Harry found himself in an amusing mix-up during a charity event in California on September 20, where he was mistakenly identified as his older brother, Prince William.

The Duke of Sussex was attending the annual One805Live! concert at Kevin Costner's oceanside estate, near his home in Montecito, without his wife Meghan Markle, who was reportedly unwell.

Richard Marx's wife tags the wrong royal in social media blunder

The star-studded event was attended by notable celebrities such as Rob Lowe, Jeff Bridges, and Pink, with performances by musicians including Richard Marx

After his performance, Marx had a brief exchange with Prince Harry, which his wife, Daisy Fuentes, captured on camera and later shared with her 324,000 Instagram followers.

However, in an accidental social media blunder, Daisy initially tagged the official Instagram account of Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Prince and Princess of Wales, instead of Prince Harry.

Realizing the mistake, she quickly corrected the tag to an unofficial fan account called 'Prince Harry of England,' which boasts 410,000 followers.

Despite the mix-up, the moment was quickly remedied and laughed off by fans.

Interestingly, this wasn’t the only awkward moment involving the singer that night.

Richard Marx nearly misses greeting Prince Harry after performance

Richard Marx almost failed to recognize Prince Harry altogether when the royal came to congratulate him after his performance.

In a clip shared by Daisy, Richard is seen walking offstage, unaware of the prince waiting to greet him.

Backstage staff hurriedly pointed out the oversight, saying, "Richard, Prince Harry," just before the royal cheerfully said, “Hey! Well done.”

While Meghan Markle had joined Harry at the event last year, her absence this time was noted.

A source told the Mirror, "The word is that she is sick and could not make it." Nonetheless, Harry kept busy over the weekend, attending a World Health Organization (WHO) dinner in New York, which Meghan also missed.

The event was organized to honor survivors of childhood violence, with attendees including Queen Mathilde of Belgium, actor Forest Whitaker, and several United Nations dignitaries.

The dinner was part of a series of engagements surrounding the UN General Assembly, which is set to begin in Manhattan.

Prince Harry being mistaken for Prince William ignites online reactions

After the mix-up on September 20, viewers were quick to comment on the confusion, adding fuel to the ongoing public comparison between the two royal siblings.

One viewer expressed, "Poor Harry! His brother is so much more handsome, clever, charismatic, caring and loved!"

Another viewer shared, "Well, they expected royalty, and got the post p45 version."

One viewer pointed out, "They probably were under the impression a working royal was attending hence thinking it was William rather than a has been the."

A follower observed, "Humiliating for William that Hapless was mistaken for him. Hapless had a moment when people actually thought he was a good, strong person..."

One comment stated, "Hilarious bet that went down well for him and Megan!!"

Another comment read, "Because they didn’t know who Harry was. The only working royal prince is William . . ."

"Richard Marx said “Who?” Your royal titles don’t carry as much weight in the US, Harry," explained an individual.
