The event, held on Friday, September 20, drew attention not only for its cause but also for this lighthearted moment between Richard Marx and Prince Harry.
Although unintentional, Marx’s brief encounter with royalty became a memorable highlight of the night, adding a humorous twist to an evening rich with star power and charitable spirit.
The One805!Live concert, a high-profile charity event hosted by Costner at his luxurious Santa Barbara estate, was intended to celebrate and raise funds for first responders in the area.
As one of the headlining performers of the evening, Marx had just finished his set and was exiting the stage when the amusing encounter occurred.
While walking off the stage, Marx seemed to be in his own world, perhaps still riding the high of his performance, when he nearly missed Harry’s attempt to greet him.
In a clip posted by Marx's wife, Daisy Fuentes, on her Instagram story, the awkward moment was captured. As Marx stepped offstage, someone had to gently nudge him in the direction of the Duke of Sussex.
"Richard? Prince Harry," a voice can be heard saying, ensuring that the two would not miss each other.
In the brief clip, Marx quickly turns around upon realizing who was behind him and shakes hands with Prince Harry. "Hey! Well done," the prince is heard saying as he offers his congratulations.

Daisy Fuentes didn’t stop at sharing the video clip; she also posted two photos of the encounter on her Instagram Story, showing her husband speaking with Prince Harry more comfortably after the initial moment of confusion.
Despite the awkwardness, the two appeared to enjoy a friendly conversation afterward.
One notable absence at the event was Meghan Markle, Harry's wife.
According to The Mirror, Meghan Markle's absence due to illness made Prince Harry's solo appearance at the event stand out. She usually accompanies him at public gatherings, particularly those in their Santa Barbara community.
Beyond the viral moment between Marx and Harry, the One805!Live event had a deeper purpose.
The annual concert aims to support and honor the first responders of Santa Barbara, including local firefighters and police, while raising funds for various emergency services.
The glitzy charity event saw several big names in attendance, including actors Rob Lowe, Jeff Bridges, and pop star Pink.
The gathering took place at Costner’s sprawling oceanside estate, providing a scenic backdrop for the evening’s activities.
Guests enjoyed a night filled with live performances, heartfelt speeches, and awards honoring local heroes. Prince Harry, who has made Santa Barbara his home since relocating to the United States, played a key role in this year's event.
One of Prince Harry's responsibilities included presenting an award to local helicopter pilot Loren Courtney, who has dedicated over two decades to serving the community with his flying skills.
