WASHINGTON, DC: In a recent interview on the ‘Defending Democracy’ podcast with Marc Elias, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made an incendiary statement accusing former President Donald Trump of wanting to “kill” and “imprison his opposition.”

The 76-year-old former First Lady of the United States who was defeated by Trump in the 2016 presidential election, went on to urge voters to overlook an “old” President Joe Biden, aged 81, as they consider their voting decisions for the 2024 presidential race, according to DailyMail.

What did Hillary Clinton say on the podcast?

Hillary Clinton believes that the current POTUS is both “effective and compassionate” and affirmed that despite his advanced age, the Democratic statesman “wants to maintain our Democracy” and is still the best candidate over his 77-year-old political adversary.

In contrast, Clinton portrays former President Donald Trump as “old” and potentially authoritarian, likening him to Vladimir Putin or Kim Jong Un.

“Trump was just gaga over Putin because Putin does what Trump would like to do: Kill his opposition, imprison his opposition, drive journalists and others into exile, rule without any check or balance,” Clinton said.

“That's what Trump really wants,” she claimed. “Those are the people he is modeling himself after, and we've been down this road in our, you know, world history. We sure don't want to go down that again.”

Clinton compared Biden to Trump, stating that “he wants to maintain our democracy, he will abide by the results of a fair and free election.”

“They say Joe Biden is old. I say you're right. Joe Biden is old,” she remarked, adding. “He's also effective, compassionate, he cares about people.”

“Donald Trump is old and he has 91 federal criminal indictments against him,” Clinton argued.

Public opinion polls conducted in the United States have indicated that a larger percentage of the population is more apprehensive about the age of the sitting Commander-in-Chief in comparison to his Republican rival, Donald Trump.

An investigative survey conducted exclusively for the aforementioned outlet in early April revealed that only 38% of probable 2024 voters believe that President Biden will be able to complete another four-year term.

Consequently, Vice President Kamala Harris could potentially become the President of the United States, if Biden wins re-election, with 36% of likely voters believing that she will become the President at the end of the term.

This outcome indicates that the age of President Joe Biden will be a critical factor during the upcoming presidential election on November 5.

In contrast, Donald Trump's age, being only four years younger, appears to be less of a concern for voters, with more than 50% expressing confidence in the MAGA figurehead’s ability to complete a full term.

Nonetheless, the survey results demonstrate that both parties will need to consider not only their preferred candidate for the presidency but also the potential for a change in leadership due to health-related issues or other unforeseen circumstances.

The 2024 presumptive Republican nominee has repeatedly criticized his opponent, President Biden, for his age and alleged inability to perform his presidential duties effectively.

However, Donald Trump himself has been subject to verbal gaffes and unforced errors during public events, which some GOP supporters claim may indicate a similar decline in his performance.

Internet divided as Hillary Clinton believes Trump would be similar to Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un

One X user remarked, "The projection is strong in this one."

Another user said, "And once again, Hillary is right."

Another user wrote, "So trumpism is a worldwide problem, I see. The right wing is pure toxicity."

One user claimed, "Trump should sue her."

Another X user argued, "The delusion is OFF THE CHARTS. Whats scary is that ppl will believe her!!"

Finally, this user tweeted, "I already said I was voting for him; you don't have to sell it to me :-)"
