LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Hugh Grant has reignited his playful feud with Colin Firth, mocking his "old boy" status and cracking jokes about his frenemy's casting in 'Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy', the fourth installment in the franchise.

The two actors have long shared a banter-filled relationship that began on the set of 'Bridget Jones's Diary' and has since spilled over into the real world, with plenty of back-and-forth jabs.

Grant’s latest dig came during an appearance on 'Late Night with Seth Meyers' on Wednesday, November 13, where he couldn't resist teasing Firth once again.

During Hugh Grant's recent appearance on 'Late Night with Seth Meyers', the host questioned him about the casting of Colin Firth in 'Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy'.

Grant responded with a playful jab, saying, "Poor Colin. They're still wheeling him out. No, it's fine. It's nice to give the old boy some work."

Meyers then jokingly asked if they should view Colin's roles as "charity work", which sent both of them into laughter.

Grant continued with a lighthearted comment about Firth’s appearance at 64, joking that Firth does his own makeup.

"Yeah, and actually, he looks fine. He's had a lot of work done. Maybe I shouldn't say that, but it's brilliant work. Whoever did it."

In 'Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy', Bridget, once again portrayed by Renee Zellweger, faces an emotionally difficult chapter as she grieves for her late husband, Mark Darcy, played by Colin Firth, who died during a humanitarian mission in Sudan. Firth appears only in Bridget’s memories in the movie.

'Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy' will release early next year.

Hugh Grant's previous jabs at Colin Firth

This isn’t the first time Hugh Grant has taken a jab at Colin Firth. In a previous interview with Vanity Fair, Grant joked that he “prayed for Firth’s downfall", even imagining himself “drinking a pint of London Pride while munching Twiglets and reading about Colin Firth having a critical and box office catastrophe".

Grant and Firth famously played rivals in the rom-com 'Bridget Jones’s Diary', both vying for the affection of Renee Zellweger’s character. Despite their on-screen rivalry, Grant has said that he gets along well with Firth.

“I get on really well with him. I like the guy, despite his outrageous rudeness about me. It's a running joke, and we do it to each other. I'm always hearing how he's announced that I'm too old to be in the cinema anymore," the 'Notting Hill' star said, per The Mirror.

In another instance, Grant reflected on his work in 'Bridget Jones' fondly, admitting he doesn’t feel the same way about some of his newer projects. He confessed to having issues while working on 'Wonka', particularly with the Oompa Loompa costume.

Speaking to Metro, Grant said, “It was like a crown of thorns, very uncomfortable. I made a big fuss about it. I couldn’t have hated the whole thing more.”
