LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: Travis Kelce is regretting his heated exchange with Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid during the Super Bowl, stating that his actions were “definitely unacceptable.”

The tight end, who helped the Chiefs win their second consecutive title, lost his temper when Reid benched him in the first half as the offense struggled against the San Francisco 49ers.

Kelce shoved Reid and screamed at him, causing the 65-year-old to lose his balance.

Travis Kelce regrets his ‘cheap shot’ at coach Andy Reid

Travis Kelce initially tried to downplay the incident, joking that he was “just telling [Reid] how much I love him.”

But on Wednesday, February 14, Travis Kelce expressed his remorse on the 'New Heights' podcast that he co-hosts with his brother, Jason, who plays for the Philadelphia Eagles.

“I can’t get that fired up to the point where bumping coach and it’s getting him off balance and stuff. When he stumbled, I was like: ‘Aw, shit’ in my head,” Kelce said.

He also revealed that Reid wasn't angry after the incident even though he expected some harsh words from the coach.

“I deserve it. If he would have cold cocked me in the face right there, I would have just ate it. I would have been like: ‘Let’s f****g go,’” said Kelce.

He called his behavior a “cheap shot” according to CNN and said he wished he could take it back.

Andy Reid brushed off the incident with humor

Andy Reid, who has coached Kelce for his entire career, did not seem to hold a grudge against his star player.

He joked about the incident after the game, telling CBS on Tuesday, February 13, “He keeps me young. He tested that hip out. He caught me off balance – normally, I’d give him a little bit, but I didn’t have any feet under me.”

Reid also praised Kelce’s performance in the Super Bowl where he caught six passes for 68 yards and a touchdown. He said Kelce was “a big part of this team” and that he “loves the kid.”

Reifd also revealed in the post-match interview that Travis was a "competitive kid," adding “He came over and gave me a hug and said, ‘Sorry about that.’”

“I just wanted to let him know that I wanted this thing and that he can put it on me and I got him,” Kelce explained.

“It just came in a moment where we weren’t playing very well. I wasn’t playing very well and we had to get some sh** going,” he added.

Kelce said he sometimes lets his emotions get the best of him, but he said he does not care what others think of him. He said he talked to Reid about the incident and they “kind of chuckled about it.”

“I couldn’t be more proud of being his product on the field, and I couldn’t be more proud of where we’ve come as a team since I got here in 2013,” Kelce said.

“I just love playing for the guy, man. And unfortunately, sometimes, my passion comes out where it looks like it’s negativity, but I’m grateful he knows it’s all because I want to win this thing with him more than anything,” he added.
