‘I needed to remove myself’: Brittany Cartwright opens up on her ‘very toxic’ marriage with Jax Taylor
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Brittany Cartwright, former 'Vanderpump Rules' star, recently opened up on her tumultuous marriage with Jax Taylor.
She revealed that a major fight led her to a “breaking point” and made her realize the toxicity of their relationship from which she needed to remove herself.
Brittany Cartwright’s breaking point from which it seems impossible to return
Brittany Cartwright said it was the fight that brought all the things forward and she reached a breaking point from where she finds hard to get back.
“We just had a horrible fight and it was like a veil was lifted, and I noticed everything wrong,” she said on 'Watch What Happens Live' on Tuesday night, April 2.
Cartwright further explained, “They always say a woman can hit her breaking point, and it’s hard to come back from that.”
Cartwright shared that the fight that triggered their separation involved a night out with fellow Bravolebrity Kristen Doute.
“[He] kind of made up a story in his own head and started a fight over something that never happened,” she shared.
Brittany Cartwright felt the marriage had turned toxic
She described how their home environment turned toxic and they fought over everything.
“It got to the point when we fought about everything. A cabinet was open and I was mad he didn’t shut the cabinet. Like it could be anything at that point,” Cartwright said.
She confessed that their marriage was a “very toxic situation and that I felt I needed to remove myself from.”
Despite their separation and her current residence in an Airbnb, she mentioned that co-parenting their two-year-old son, Cruz, with her estranged husband has been “fine.”
“Jax is a great father. I will give him that,” she told host Andy Cohen, adding “[Cruz] is our main priority no matter what.”
Brittany Cartwright denies Jax Taylor's cheating rumors
Despite rumors of infidelity, Cartwright said she highly doubts Taylor, 44, cheated on her.
“I don’t think so. I really don’t think so,” she said. “I did all the digging. … We made sure that wasn’t true by that point…I thought there were always rumors about Jax no matter what," Cartwright said.
The news of the couple’s separation was revealed in February when the ‘Vanderpump Rules’ alum shared on the duo’s joint podcast ‘When Reality Hits’ that she and Taylor were taking a break from their marriage.
On March 18, she detailed to E! News about the "negative space in our own house," saying they had separated sometime before it was made public.
She expressed concern for their son, stating, “I just don’t want that for our son. I don’t want him growing up thinking it’s normal to live like that.”
"We got into a very bad fight and I decided to pack up my stuff and I’ve been staying in an Airbnb since January 24,” she said last month.
