HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT: MSNBC host Rachel Maddow is no stranger to provocative predictions and sensational rhetoric. But she set off a new firestorm last week with her claim that if re-elected in 2024, former President Donald Trump would maneuver to stay in power indefinitely, as per OK Magazine.

Fellow media figure Megyn Kelly wasted no time shooting down Maddow’s "crazy" assertion, joined by a chorus of jeering online detractors. With Trump plotting his next moves, the ideological clashes on America’s airwaves seem unlikely to fade away quietly.

Megyn Kelly slams Rachel Maddow's speculation

Appearing on 'The Megyn Kelly Show' podcast, the former Fox News host slammed Maddow's speculation as the rantings of someone "obsessed with Russia."

"These people are crazy...Now [Maddow] wants us to believe that because [Trump] thinks he’s going to be criminally tried upon leaving office – like we’re in Russia; they are obsessed with Russia over at MSNBC – this actually is Vladimir Putin," Megyn told her listeners.

Conservative radio host Jesse Kelly, who had joined Megyn for the segment, agreed, stating, "The communists are really good at creating idols. And I found this fascinating over the past few years once I figured out what they do [to] watch them do it. And not just idols you should worship but also idols you should throw tomatoes at."

Megyn Kelly dismisses legal worries about Donald Trump's prosecution

Dismissing concerns that potential criminal prosecution might incentivize Trump to cling to power, Megyn stated such fears betray an ignorance of the legal realities in America compared to dictatorships abroad.

"He probably would be killed or tried if he left office, so he's probably not going anywhere at any point soon. But we're in the United States of America and Donald Trump, number one, if he gets into office as president, will just get rid of the two federal prosecutions," Megyn said.

She continued, "And he can also give himself a preemptive pardon...Maybe you didn't notice it because of the way your news coverage goes in MSNBC. And the New York case is nothing."

Internet joins Megyn Kelly in condemning Rachel Maddow's claims

The online community swiftly joined Megyn in condemning Maddow's claims, unleashing a cascade of criticism. One YouTube user remarked, "She gets more desperate and hysterical with every broadcast. She has lost ALL of her credibility."

Another user found the situation amusing, stating, "Laughing out loud at Rachel!!!!" One individual contributed, "There is no lie that Rachel Maddow will not tell," while another questioned Maddow's expertise, asserting, "She's the perfect example demonstrating that you don't need to be knowledgeable to be on television."

Amidst the online discourse, a user painted a vivid metaphor, stating, "She is trapped in Plato’s cave. Her own little world of fantasy and nightmares. And people actually listen to her as an expert?"

The intensity of the online reaction reached its peak with a user exclaiming, "Wow! Talk about bringing the cray cray. Rachel excels at that."
