WASHINGTON, DC: A former adviser of Donald Trump's 2020 presidential campaign suggested that former First Lady Melania Trump might have a significant influence on the selection of the former president's running mate in the 2024 election, per Mediaite.

CNN reported on Friday that the list of potential running mates for the ex-president is becoming shorter, with Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL), JD Vance (R-OH), and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum (R) leading the list.

Doug Burgum previously challenged the 78-year-old MAGA strongman for the GOP presidential nomination, albeit unsuccessfully, and once claimed that he would not do business with the former POTUS.

However, like Senators Vance and Rubio, who have strongly criticized Trump in the past, Burgum has also embraced the MAGA movement.

What did Trump’s 2020 campaign adviser say?

On Friday's ‘OutFront’ on CNN, host Erin Burnett provided an overview of the situation and invited former Trump campaign adviser David Urban to offer his insight on the same.

“So, top three contenders, Vance, Burgum, Rubio,” Burnett noted. “You’ve got Don. Jr., Tucker Carlson, Steve Bannon for Vance. Sean Hannity for Rubio. [Rupert] Murdoch for Burgum. So, in your experience with Trump, who will eventually have the most sway over his pick?”

“Melania Trump,” Urban replied. “I’d like to know who Melania likes, right? That’s really, you know, probably his closest adviser of all the people who weren’t mentioned, right? I think she has a great deal of influence over her husband and the president… So, it’d be interesting to see who she likes.”

The former president, according to Urban, seeks advice on these matters from a range of people.

He also predicted that the 2024 presumptive GOP presidential nominee will name his running mate just before the Republican National Convention next month.

In a repeat of the 2020 presidential contest, former President Trump is going to face President Joe Biden in the upcoming November general election.
