JEFFERSON CITY, MISSOURI: Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey filed a lawsuit against the State of New York for its prosecutions of former President Donald Trump, per RawStory.

"I will be filing suit against the State of New York for their direct attack on our democratic process through unconstitutional lawfare against President Trump," the ‘Show-Me’ State top prosecutor declared in a post on X. "We have to fight back against a rogue prosecutor who is trying to take a presidential candidate off the campaign trail."

What prompted Missouri AG Andrew Bailey to pick a legal fight against the Empire State?

The Missouri Attorney General explained his legal dispute with the State of New York, claiming that the legal actions brought against Donald Trump are hindering the 2024 presumptive GOP presidential nominee's ability to campaign for the White House.

AG Andrew Bailey asserted, "It sabotages Missourians’ right to a free and fair election."

Bailey expects that his case will be escalated directly to the United States Supreme Court because it involves legal action between two states.

The Missouri Attorney General’s office has officially titled the case, "Missouri vs New York."

Former President Donald Trump has faced multiple legal defeats, including cases of defamation, civil fraud, and a criminal indictment with 34 counts for falsifying business records.

The Missouri AG specifically criticized Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg for what he sees as a politically motivated guilty verdict against Donald Trump.

Bailey accused "radical progressives in New York [for] trying to rig the 2024 election," according to Fox News. "We have to stand up and fight back."

In 2021, when Alvin Bragg ran for Manhattan District Attorney, his platform focused on "justice and public safety."

Regarding the criminal investigation into former President Trump, and the lack of formal charges from the outgoing DA, Cyrus Vance Jr, Bragg conveyed his intentions at the time, saying, “I don’t know where this investigation will go. I don’t want to prejudge it. But, these types of investigations — white-collar investigations — I’ve been involved with for years, both doing them myself and also supervising them.”

The legal action has been initiated just weeks ahead of an upcoming primary election, where Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey is desperately seeking to retain his position as Attorney General within a competitive field of Republican candidates.

On August 6, voters will have the opportunity to either re-elect Bailey or throw their support behind Will Scharf, an attorney representing former President Donald Trump, who has frequently appeared in the media advocating for the gag-ordered convicted Republican presidential candidate.

Internet lambasted Missouri AG Andrew Bailey for suing the State of New York

One X user claimed, "With respect, you will do nothing else after you file suit. The rule of law HAS been followed and you know it. Your actions are hollow and shallow gestures designed to pacify supporters who will not follow long enough to see your 'suit' going nowhere."

Another user remarked, "Yeah, not going anywhere, but magas will definitely send money."

Another user quipped, "I'm sure this definitely isn't just a publicity stunt to score points with the MAGA crowd. Nope. Not at all."

One X user wrote, "What a f**king loser. The GOP, still wasting money on nothing since the beginning of time."

Another user said, "Please tell me you’re joking with this tweet. I hope The Missouri Bar evaluates your deceptive practices. You work for the state of Missouri, not Donald J. Trump." [sic]

Finally, this user tweeted, "Until you actually bring them to trial to answer for their crimes then this is all words."
