LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Mathangi 'Maya' Arulpragasam MBE, globally recognized by her stage name MIA, has recently stirred up the media landscape with her extensive outburst on X, the platform previously known as Twitter.

The acclaimed 'Paper Planes' rapper didn't hold back as she took aim at a fellow rapper and an American multi-disciplinary entertainment company.

MIA pointed fingers at Jay-Z, Roc Nation, and the prevailing immigration policies in the US, attributing them to her ongoing struggle to see her teenage son.

Who is MIA's son?

Between 2006 and 2008, MIA reportedly resided in the Bedford-Stuyvesant area of Brooklyn, New York.

It was here that she encountered Benjamin Bronfman, a prominent figure from the Bronfman business dynasty and the Lehman banking family, founders of Lehman Brothers.

Their relationship blossomed into an engagement, and MIA gave birth to their son, Ikhyd Edgar Arular Bronfman, on February 13, 2009.

This event occurred just three days after her performance at the Grammy Awards.

However, by February 2012, it was publicly announced that MIA and Bronfman had decided to part ways, per CTV news.

MIA stated in a tweet, "My son was born at the end of the Tamil Genocide in 2009."

His name 'IKHYD' is a name she came up with by joining a "Israeli and a Palestinian name together."

She added, "I had hoped that in his life time he will witness the 2 state solution to this conflict that has been on going for 75 years."

MIA calls out US immigration policies

On Thursday, February 8, MIA unleashed a torrent of frustration on X. She attributed the US immigration policies as the reason for her struggle to meet her teenage son, whom she shares with her ex-fiancé, Benjamin Bronfman.

"BIDEN WON'T LET ME SEE MY CHILD," she wrote. "THE LONGEST PROCESSING IS MENT TO BE 2 MONTHS AND IT'S ALREADY BEEN THAT...I HAVE TO WAIT TILL A REPUBLICAN WINS. WOW."

In a separate tweet, the rapper stated, "I'M NOT ALLOWED TO SEE MY CHILD FOR STEALING FOOD AT 18, WHEN I WAS POOR."

"YET UR GOVERMMET IS OK WITH MY CHILD BEING WITH FAMILY CONVICTED FOR CHILD TRAFFICKING AND SEX CULTS OK."

"THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ME AND MIGRANTS COMING IN, IS THAT I CAN'T VOTE. I M PAYING U.S TAXES TOO.SICK."

The outspoken Sri Lankan artist expressed her belief that her vocal advocacy for peace in the Middle East is the root cause of her continuing custody dispute.

"I HAVE SHOWN SUPPORT FOR JULIEN FOR 14 YEARS AND HAVE BEEN TO THE USA MANY TIMES," the rapper opined in another tweet.

"THE ONLY THING DIFFERENT THIS TIME IS, I CALLED FOR A CEASE FIRE AND SPOKE OUT AGAINST GENOCIDE AND ETHNIC CLEANSING."

"NOW I AM FORCED TO PICK BETWEEN MY CHILD AND SPEAKING UP FOR WHATS RIGHT BY GOD."

MIA blasts Jay-Z and Roc Nation in her tweets

The British rapper has publicly criticized Jay-Z and Roc Nation, accusing them of not assisting her in regaining custody of her son.

On Thursday, February 8, she suggesting that Jay-Z was financially influenced by her ex-fiancé to ignore her custody struggle.

She further shared a screenshot of a Wikipedia article about the NXIUM cult, implicating two of Bronfman's cousins.

MIA tweeted, "MY FIRST CUSTODY BATTLE WAS 2O13. MY CHILD WAS FOUR. I WAS MANAGED BY JAYZ. WHO ULTIMATELY WAS PAID BY BRONFMANS."

She mentioned in another tweet, "THE DAY I WAS SERVED, 4 MY CHILD , ROCK NATION STOPPED ALL COMMUNICATION WITH ME AND ALL MY EMAILS TO JAYZ ASKING FOR HELP WAS WIPED FROM MY INBOX. "

"MY WAS BROKEN INTO AND EVERY LAP WAS TAKEN. I WAS TRAPPED IN BROOKLYN ON ORDER SERVED THAT RESCRICTED ME LEAVING BKLYN FOR 15 YEARS."

In May 2012, MIA ntered into a management contract with Roc Nation.

However, the alliance turned sour within just a few years, leading to their separation in January 2014.

In a 2016 interview, she disclosed that Jay-Z had allegedly advised her to settle a $16 million lawsuit with the NFL - a consequence of her controversial gesture during the 2012 Super Bowl halftime show - by forfeiting her music earnings for life.

This was a significant factor in the tension between them. Post her departure from Roc Nation, MIA has launched two albums: 'AIM' in 2016 and 'Matta' in October 2022, per XXL.
