LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: George Santos recently sat down for an interview, where he made some interesting claims about himself.

The disgraced New York Republican, who was thrown out of the chamber in December 2023 after his lies and fraud accusations came to light, claimed to The New York Post that he would love to live an anonymous life rather than be famous.

During the interview, he said, “I don’t enjoy it, believe it or not.”

“Here’s something about me that most people have wrong: If I had to either stay being an anonymous person, [or have] all this attention, I would have loved to stay anonymous,” the 35-year-old shared.

He continued, “You know why? Now I know what I lost. You don’t know until you lose it. And I love the fact that I could wear baggy, f****d-up sweatpants, like an old t-shirt, and go to the supermarket and nobody knew who the f**k I was.”

“Now it would be on Page Six, it’d be in all the tabloids, I don’t need that,” he asserted.

George Santos earned hundreds of thousands of dollars on Cameo

On the other hand, Santos’ online footprint tells another story.

As per reports, his permanent spot is X, earlier called Twitter. Also, he now has an account on Cameo, an app where famous people get paid for making videos for their fans.

Despite not liking to be in the public eye, Santos has reportedly earned over $600,000 through Cameo.

George Santos denied many Cameo requests worth $100,000

Santos also claimed to decline offers worth $100,000 because they were against his beliefs.

He said, “I’ve declined people saying sexual things [like], ‘X has the biggest, best wiener in town, find him on Hinge.’ Or very antisemitic stuff. I’m never gonna’ read that.”

“There’s no amount of money that’s going to [get] me to say something like that,” he mentioned.

Santos also revealed the reason behind his almost permanent online presence.

He elaborated, “The endgame is, I’m not going to have my voice taken away from me. I have a voice. I have people who support me. I have people who like my record in Congress. And quite frankly, I’ve definitely pivoted from being a public servant to a notable public figure.”

“That’s how I’m earning a living today because I can’t go back to finance, I can’t go back to private equity. I have a dark cloud over my head that I need to clear off,” Santos added.
