WASHINGTON, DC: On Friday, March 8, CNN anchor Jake Tapper while analyzing President Biden's State of the Union address, criticized Fox News' Sean Hannity for his negative rhetoric toward the commander-in-chief.

Tapper accused Hannity of tailoring his criticism to fit the Republican narrative, rather than providing objective analysis.

Prior to showing a clip of Hannity referring to the 81-year-old incumbent president during his speech to Congress as “jacked-up Joe”, Tapper said during a segment, “Before the speech, Republicans were saying Biden was old, weak, gaffe-prone, senile, a pushover.”

“Can Republicans have it both ways? I mean, this also reminds me of the fact that they accuse him of being a dumb puppet fool and also this criminal mastermind. It just seems like, you’ve gotta pick a lane here, right?” Tapper remarked.

What did Sean Hannity remark about SOTU address?

During his analysis of Biden’s SOTU speech last Thursday, March 7 evening, Sean Hannity made several remarks about the President's lively disposition, according to The Hill.

Hannity went on to describe the speech as "so hyped-up and bizarre," and argued that it stood in contrast to the President's day-to-day nature.

The Fox News host also accused Biden of "overcompensating" during the speech.

Following this, Hannity responded quickly on X, formerly Twitter, referring to his ideological counterpart as "Fake Jake".

Hannity tweeted on Friday evening, “Lol. @jaketapper Fake Jake are you really that dumb? OK. Let’s play, game on. Tune in to radio and TV Monday. I’ll gladly educate you. If you still have a job Monday.”

The current United States political climate has seen the GOP raise concerns over President Biden's age and cognitive abilities, with a view to the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

According to the Republicans, President Biden's advanced years make him unfit to serve another four-year term.

This critique has been further amplified by the 388-page report by Special Counsel Robert Hur, which casts the President in a damaging predicament as an "elderly man with a poor memory".

Despite these accusations, President Biden has defended himself by dismissing the concerns about his age and even making light of them in his address to Congress.

“You got to take a look at the other guy, he’s about as old as I am,” Biden asserted during his appearance on NBC’s 'Late Night With Seth Meyers' last month referring to former President Donald Trump, who is 77 years old himself, and will likely be his opponent in the upcoming November general election.

House Republicans have been targeting President Biden by raising objections to his son, Hunter Biden’s business dealings, furthering their impeachment push.

Republicans on the House Oversight and Accountability Committee have invited Hunter Biden to testify publicly before the Congress on March 20.

However, both Bidens have disapproved of these efforts, with the First Son recently calling the impeachment against his father a “baseless and destructive political charade".
