LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Sean "Diddy" Combs' apology video has sparked outrage across various social media platforms, drawing numerous responses and comments.

The fact that he didn't mention Cassie's name in the apology is gaining significant media attention. According to TMZ, there are legal reasons behind Diddy's omission of her name in the video.

To provide context, Diddy issued an apology for his "inexcusable" behavior towards Cassie Ventura, as depicted in recently surfaced footage. On Friday, May 17, CNN released footage from March 2016 showing the music mogul allegedly mistreating his then-girlfriend in the lobby of the now-closed InterContinental Hotel.

Legal reasons that prevented Diddy from mentioning Cassie's name in apology

Prior to understanding the legal constraints preventing Diddy from mentioning Cassie's name in the apology, it's essential to delve into Cassie's lawsuit.

Diddy and Cassie reached a settlement just a day after she filed her sexual assault lawsuit against him in November.

The agreement reveals that it includes a stringent Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), prohibiting both parties from discussing each other publicly.

Notably, since the release of the 2016 assault video, Cassie has refrained from disparaging or referencing Diddy publicly.

Diddy's legal team meticulously reviewed his apology video before its release for several reasons.

Firstly, they ensured compliance with the NDA, meaning absolutely no mention of Cassie by name, despite Diddy's desire to do so.

Secondly, Cassie's case is only one aspect of the legal challenges Diddy faces; he still contends with three other lawsuits containing similar allegations to Cassie's, including accusations of human and sex trafficking.

Given the pending litigation, Diddy's legal advisors are cautious about his public statements, as his words could potentially be used against him in court. Although permitted to record the apology video, Diddy did so under his legal team's guidance.

After the revelation of Diddy's legal constraints preventing him from mentioning Cassie's name in his recent video apology, numerous individuals expressed their opinions, with some resorting to mocking Diddy on Facebook.

A fourth claimed, "He could’ve said “ I’m sorry to everyone I hurt” he doesn’t care enough though. He’s a monster 🤷🏽‍♀️."

Another said, "Typical manipulation, sidestepping responsibility, calling it behavior.

That was not just behavior. THAT IS WHO HE IS."

Another wrote, "He still could’ve apologized to her without saying her name." The last user said, "He doesn't deserve to say her name."

In an Instagram video shared on Sunday, May 19, the 54-year-old Diddy expressed, "It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that."

While he avoided mentioning Ventura directly, the 'Last Night' singer alluded to the surveillance footage, admitting, "I was f****d up. I hit rock bottom — but I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable."

"I take full responsibility for my actions in that video, I’m disgusted," added Diddy, whose properties were recently raided by Homeland Security as part of a sex trafficking investigation.

Diddy continued, "I was disgusted then when I did it and I’m disgusted now. I went and I sought out professional help, started going to therapy and rehab, had to ask god for his mercy and grace."
