NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: In a provocative move, filmmaker Michael Moore openly endorsed the recent takeover of an administrative building at Columbia University by pro-Palestinian protesters and called for further actions of similar nature, as per Mediaite.

The incident, which prompted police intervention to breach the occupied premises, was part of a wave of campus demonstrations demanding divestment from Israel and an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

During the latest episode of his 'Rumble with Michael Moore' podcast, Moore extended his full support to the protesters, asserting their right to "take over buildings" as long as violence is not involved.

He drew parallels with union workers' actions, stating, "You have to take over buildings. That is not violence."

He further expressed his support, saying, "I hope it continues. I applaud every student who has taken a stand at their campus, at graduation, whatever. This is the purpose of a democracy."

Moore also took aim at New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who had claimed that "outside agitators" were fueling the rising tensions at the protests. While Adams did not provide specifics on how many of the hundreds arrested fell into this category, Moore dismissed the term as a "joke."

"There's no such thing as an outside agitator because these schools live in the communities. They exist in the communities. They participate in the communities," Moore claimed.

One of the activists interviewed on Moore's podcast shed light on the underlying strategy, declaring, "We're here to disrupt your daily lives. We're here to show you the urgency."

Moore applauded these efforts, urging students across campuses to establish encampments and "take a stand" against Israel's strikes on Gaza.

Moore didn't stop at the campus protests; he also continued to criticize President Joe Biden's support for Israel amid the strikes on Gaza.

Prior to this, Moore had cautioned Biden that maintaining his current stance on Israel could potentially lead to his defeat against Donald Trump in the upcoming November election.

Internet slams Michael Moore for encouraging pro-Palestinian protesters

Moore's comments encouraging pro-Palestinian protesters ignited a fierce backlash on social media.

One user stated, "Again, Moore only pops up every four years nowadays to get attention. At least he is showing how he can be completely mental at times."

Another remarked, "Moore needs to mentally grow up, but he obviously never will - just the way he still dresses reflects the fact he's stuck in the immature, idealistic time-warp of his youth."

Another user expressed, "100% wrong, false, and stupid. Do not listen to this moronic slob. He won't be there to bail you out of jail. This is the same guy who condemned the J6 Capitol building takeover. There is zero consistency from the far left. Shame."

Meanwhile, a user commented, "He's the biggest nutjob! That idiot is going get everybody arrested by not only campus security, but also by police SWAT."

A different user advised, "Stick with making movies, Mike. You suck at politics." Another user observed, "Michael Moore, doing his best to be the biggest 'outside agitator' of all."

Another user criticized, "Moore is a low IQ moron. He's a coward." Lastly, one user argued, "That isn't protected free speech. That's incitement to commit a specific crime. Moore should be arrested."
