WASHINGTON, DC: On Monday night, January 15, President Joe Biden appealed to his supporters for campaign donations in the aftermath of former President Trump's caucus win in the Hawkeye state.

The President acknowledged former President Trump's clear lead in the Republican primary, stating that the upcoming election would pit him against extreme MAGA Republicans.

What did Joe Biden tweet after Trump’s overwhelming Iowa caucus win?

President Biden posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, “Looks like Donald Trump just won Iowa. He’s the clear front runner on the other side at this point.”

“But here’s the thing: this election was always going to be you and me vs. extreme MAGA Republicans. It was true yesterday and it’ll be true tomorrow. So if you're with us, chip in now," the 81-year-old Commander-in-Chief stated, linking the tweet to his campaign’s fundraising website.

The comments made by President Biden serve to further his efforts to mobilize his party against the "MAGA extremism" movement.

Recent polls indicate a closely contested race between Biden and Trump.

The latter's victory in Iowa was announced by the Associated Press and other news outlets approximately 30 minutes after voting commenced in the first-in-the-nation caucuses, per Axios.

On the other hand, Biden's approval ratings have been dwindling, with American citizens particularly unhappy regarding the state of the US economy.

According to an ABC News/Ipsos poll that was published on Sunday, January 14, Trump is significantly more popular than his Republican presidential rivals.

However, only 33% of the respondents approve of President Biden's performance, making him the lowest since George W. Bush's presidency from 2006-2008.

During his initial campaign speeches in 2024, President Biden expressed concerns about the threat that former President Trump poses to the democratic fabric of the United States, according to a report from The Hill.

The reasons cited included his unwillingness to accept the results of the 2020 elections, his lack of condemnation in response to political violence, and his threats of revenge in the event of his re-election.

In contrast, on Monday evening, during a rally in Des Moines, former President Trump criticized President Biden, referring to him as “the worst president we’ve had in the history of our country".

Internet ridicules President Biden’s call to raise campaign funds

People on X mocked the 81-year-old Democratic Head of State for wasting no time in dillydallying after the news of Trump’s massive caucus win in Iowa has set the stage up perfectly for the upcoming November elections.

One X user remarked, “Looks like someones panicking."

Another user asked, "If you're doing such a wonderful job, and have 81M voters, why you e-begging for contributions?"

Another user suggested, "You should look in the mirror, Joe."

One user mocked, "More like me and my grocery bills vs you."

Another X user remarked, "Your approval rating is below 40%. The election fraud machine can't save you from this. NCSWIC."

Finally, this user tweeted: "Joe, you’re barely polling 30%. They’re going to replace you with Michelle Obama soon. Neither you or her stand a chance."
