Internet weighs in as Trump jokes Melania asked him if his golf shots are 'long as' Bryson DeChambeau's

WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump hit the links with LIV Golf bomber Bryson DeChambeau over the weekend, and later cracked some jokes that sent his critics into a frenzy.
The US President was back on the course at Trump National in DC, where he teed off with DeChambeau, one of the biggest names in modern golf. After the round, Trump and the golf star paid a visit to the White House.
Donald Trump slammed after joking about Melania’s golf question
Donald Trump showered praise on his buddy Bryson DeChambeau as they wrapped up their round. “Bryson’s a great guy, he’s a great golfer, he’s probably the number one golfer now. Him and Scottie are rated the top, and we play golf a lot together,” Trump said.
But he couldn’t resist taking it one step further, recalling a conversation with his wife, First Lady Melania Trump.
“It’s not a very pleasant experience for me because I always consider myself a reasonably long hitter, and then I play with him and I go home, and I say, my wife says, ‘Are you as long as Bryson?’ I said, yeah, sort of, pretty close,” Trump quipped.

It didn’t take long for social media to light up with hot takes. Many of them weren’t amused.
"Are ..... we . ......still talking about golf?" one confused viewer responded on X.
"So he now goes around with a mic and a speaker on the golf course. Can’t be caught somewhere he can’t ramble on with his jibberish when he gets the urge," another offered.

"This is just inappropriate. I so miss a president who knows how to behave with decorum in public," someone else lamented.

"False, he never talks to Mel unless they are in public. He constantly needs to compare himself to others and fantasize that he always comes out the best. How fragile his ego must be," read a comment.

"Wow. So much to unpack here. But let's just start with the fact Trump is once again playing golf. How many days this year has he played golf?" another chimed in.

Donald Trump and Bryson DeChambeau are more than golf buddies
Despite the jokes, the Trump-DeChambeau bromance seems to be going strong.
Their latest outing wasn’t their first, and probably won’t be the last. Trump even made a guest appearance on DeChambeau’s YouTube channel last summer while on the campaign trail. The duo filmed a game together, and it went viral overnight.
Their latest collab culminated in DeChambeau’s June 1 trip to Washington, DC, where the golf pro swung by the White House, according to Nuclr Golf, a golf content page on X.
The admiration goes both ways. In April, DeChambeau told Fox & Friends of Trump, “He loves golf. I think he's such a great ambassador for the game of golf and for diplomacy, in general.”
That same month, Trump stirred the pot in golf’s biggest turf war by publicly backing a merger between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, calling for unity in the sport he clearly can’t get enough of.
