'It’s not our war': Internet divided as Trump plans 'loan' system for Ukraine's wartime aid if re-elected
PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Former President of the United States, Donald Trump, has been contemplating a "loan" system to provide financial assistance to embattled Ukraine in the future if he is re-elected to the White House come November.
Following a Friday meeting with House GOP Speaker Mike Johnson, the 77-year-old MAGA strongman mentioned this proposed form of war funding in the press conference at Mar-a-Lago, according to Fox News.

During the media event, Trump informed reporters, "We’re looking at it right now, and they’re talking about it, and we’re thinking about making it in the form of a loan instead of just a gift.”
The 2024 presumptive Republican nominee continued, "We keep handing out gifts of billions and billions of dollars, and we’ll take a look at it."
What prompted Trump to think along the lines of providing ‘loans’ for war spending in Ukraine?
The former POTUS, Donald Trump, has been highly critical of the financial aid provided to Ukraine, arguing that the funds have been expended without any clear improvement in the ongoing conflict.
In this regard, it is important to note that this is not the first time that Trump has floated the idea of providing aid to Ukraine in the form of a loan.

In one of his earlier posts on Truth Social, the real estate mogul had expressed his support for such a form of aid.
In that post, Trump emphasized that the repayment of the loan would be interest-free and would not be demanded unless Ukraine "strikes it rich sometime in the future."
Additionally, Trump reiterated his ongoing contention that European nations should increase their contributions to the defense of Ukraine, highlighting their vested interest in preserving peace and stability in the region, situated between them and Russia.

"But much more importantly to me is the fact that Europe has to step up, and they have to give money," Trump stated during the Friday press conference. "They have to equalize. If they don’t equalize I’m very upset about it, because they’re affected much more than we are."
The former president’s allies in the House remain staunch opponents of continued financial aid for the war-torn Eastern European nation, arguing that foreign conflicts are irrelevant to the United States and do not merit intervention.
