Jack Advent suggests idea of Barron Trump joining TikTok board to appeal to young users

WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump’s former TikTok producer, Jack Advent, suggested that the President’s son, Barron Trump, could have a greater role to play in the popular social media app while celebrating the news of a deal to save the brand.
President Trump signed an executive order clearing the way for investors to operate a US version of the platform and indicated that the deal to save it was finally happening after months of delays.

Trump made his return to TikTok on Monday, October 6, sharing a video on Truth Social from the Oval Office that earned him over 6 million views in just a few hours.
The president said, “To all those young people of TikTok, I saved TikTok, so you owe me big. And now you're looking at me in the Oval Office.”

Reacting to the deal, Jack Advent told the Daily Mail, “President Trump delivered on his promise to save TikTok and the millions of Americans who run their businesses and get their unfiltered news through the app.”
“TikTok Jack,” as Trump referred to him on the campaign trail, helped introduce the president to the wildly popular social media platform. Advent praised Trump’s efforts but also proposed that the president include young people on the board.

He said, “Young people are overwhelmingly the user base of TikTok. I'm hopeful President Trump will consider appointing his son Barron and maybe other young Americans to TikTok's board to help ensure it remains an app young people want to keep using.”
Meanwhile, for Trump’s communications team, the TikTok deal represents a major step forward for young people on social media.
Former Trump campaign advisor Alex Bruesewitz told the Daily Mail, “Promises made, promises kept. President Trump recognizes TikTok is the favorite platform of America’s youth and a powerful tool for small businesses and entrepreneurs to thrive. It is now here to stay.”
Joe Biden signed TikTok ban in 2024
The TikTok ban was signed by former President Joe Biden in 2024, but Donald Trump kept the platform alive until a deal to sell the US version to non-Chinese owners could be finalized.
Former White House Deputy Press Secretary Harrison Fields said the deal should be celebrated by Republicans.
Fields told the Daily Mail, “Biden was going to just allow this thing to just end. There was no talk of a deal. The Democrats used TikTok to their benefit but they did nothing to save it, so this was an opportunity for the president to show leadership and he did.”

He added that there were still concerns about the future of the content creation app and the transfer of ownership, but said it was ultimately an important political moment.
“A lot of young people, it’s crazy to say it, but they would vote for this issue. I think overall the deal is very successful,” he said.

Trump’s team realized in 2024 that the platform was essential for outreach and went all in. They recruited UFC CEO Dana White to help introduce Trump to TikTok.
White said, “The president is now on TikTok,” while pointing at Trump as they stood backstage at the UFC in June. The president replied, “It is my honor,” as the video cut to Trump’s walk-on to the UFC stage.
