NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: James Carville has expressed deep concerns over Robert F Kennedy Jr's mental state, suggesting that in a "more humane country," Kennedy Jr would have been committed to a mental health facility by now.

The remarks come after Kennedy Jr abruptly ended his independent presidential campaign and threw his support behind former president Donald Trump.

James Carville's blunt assessment

During an appearance on CNN's Outfrint with host Erin Burnett, James Carville slammed Robert F Kennedy Jr's latest decision to suspend his campaign and endorse Donald Trump.

"I really feel sorry for the Kennedy family because I will remind them, you can pick your friends, you can’t pick your relatives," said Carville.

"And if Bobby Kennedy lived in a more humane country, they would have him in a nice rubber room and you know, three hots and a cot and take care of this guy," he continued.

"He has no business being out on the street mixing and mingling with people. But this is where we are in this country. We have a mental health crisis and he’s at the top of it," he added.

Kennedy Jr's campaign has also been plagued by a series of bizarre incidents and allegations, ranging from his anti-vaccine stance and belief in chemtrails to more outlandish claims, according to Mediaite.

James Carville's speculation about JD Vance

In his conversation with Burnett, James Carville was asked about the potential of Donald Trump dropping his running mate JD Vance, in favor of Kennedy Jr.

Vance has been a controversial figure himself with supporters of the Democratic Party successfully portraying him as "weird" through a series of awkward public appearances and negative advertisemets.

A poll conducted in July after the Republican National Convention showed Trump's vice presidential pick with a net favorability rating of negative 15 points.

Carville, however, was skeptical of the possibility of Trump replacing Vance with Kennedy.

Internet slams James Carville suggesting RFK Jr should be in a mental health facility

As James Carville said he believed Kennedy Jr should be locked up in a mental institution, netizens slammed the Democratic strategist's opinion.

One user on X wrote, "When James Carville is against you, you know you are on the right side." Another tweeted, "They always want to silence those that disagree with them."

"Carville and his hateful minions are pathetic. There is nothing American about the things they say to slander and degrade anyone with differing ideologies. Disgusting," a netizen commented.

"Carville, some of us would remind you the same applies to you!" an individual opined. Another remarked, "This shows you how afraid they are to resort to this type of hyperbole."
