WASHINGTON, DC: On Wednesday, May 29, Representative James Comer, the Republican chair of the House Oversight Committee, made a dramatic accusation against Attorney General Merrick Garland, demanding that he be put "on trial" for supposedly obstructing the GOP's investigation into President Joe Biden, according to Mediaite.

Comer's incendiary remarks, made during an appearance on Newsmax TV, drew immediate and widespread backlash online, with critics across social media platforms ridiculing the congressman.

Comer, during an interview with Newsmax hosts Shaun Kraisman and Emma Rechenberg, demanded that Garland be put "on trial" over a probe into President Biden.

This investigation, which has been ongoing for years, has notably struggled to gain traction, even among conservative media outlets and Republicans.

Comer has led numerous hearings as part of an impeachment inquiry into Biden. However, the inquiry has been widely criticized for its lack of substantial evidence. Journalists, legal experts, and even some Republicans have repeatedly pointed out the absence of any concrete proof of wrongdoing by the president.

During Wednesday's episode of Newsmax TV’s 'National Report', Comer asserted that the failure of his investigation was due to Garland’s alleged obstruction.

He called for Garland to be investigated and tried for his actions regarding Hunter Biden. The discussion shifted to these accusations following a question about Trump’s gag order. "Absolutely not," Comer responded when asked if the Justice Department would investigate the gag order.

"I think that Merrick Garland should be investigated. If anyone should be on trial, it should be Merrick Garland. If you look at all the obstruction he has demonstrated in my investigation of Biden family corruption, that alone would get a normal attorney general in front of some type of court," he continued.

Comer's probe into the Biden family has faced numerous challenges and setbacks. Despite multiple hearings and extensive efforts, the investigation has yet to produce substantial evidence of any crimes or misconduct by POTUS.

James Comer's remarks about putting Merrick Garland on trial prompt mockery online

Comer's remarks about putting Garland on trial prompted an avalanche of criticism and ridicule on the internet. One user remarked, "Comer is still in the denial stage over the devastating loss of his Biden impeachment fantasy." Another user echoed this sentiment, saying, "Comer claimed he had all this evidence ... now he's blaming his failures on someone else."

Criticism continued with comments such as, "James Comer was rolled out to make other Republicans seem comparatively less stupid," and, "James Comer has no credibility and is a complete jacka**."

A particularly harsh critique came from a user who wrote, "Comer, like MAGA, is a failure. Blaming others for his own failure just makes Comer a real MAGA." Another user added, "This Comer fool never gets tired of being a laughingstock."

The backlash didn’t stop there. One user stated, "The only people dumber than James Comer are the idiots that voted for him," while another commented, "America is in distress because of stupid people like Comer and the idiots who believe him."
