Janet Jackson weighs in on Kamala Harris' ethnicity, says 'she's not Black'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Janet Jackson questioned Kamala Harris' ethnicity while discussing the upcoming presidential election.
The sister of pop legend Michael Jackson shared her piece of mind when asked if the country is close to electing its first Black, female president.
Jackson said, “Well, you know what they supposedly said? She’s not Black, that’s what I heard, that she’s Indian. Her father’s white, that’s what I was told. I mean, I haven’t watched the news in a few days. I was told that they discovered her father was white,” per The Guardian.
Janet Jackson says it will be 'mayhem', doesn't matter who wins
After the reporter reiterated her question, the 'Miss You Much' singer responded with, “I don’t know. Honestly, I don’t want to answer that because I really truthfully don’t know. I think either way it goes is going to be mayhem.”
Janet's comments come after Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump remarked about Harris’ race in July, saying, “She was always of Indian heritage, and she was only promoting Indian heritage.”
“I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black. So I don’t know, is she Indian or is she Black?” he added during the National Association of Black Journalists convention.
As per records, Kamala Harris' father, Donald J Harris is a Jamaican-American economist and professor at Stanford University, who split with her Indian mother when Harris and her sister, Maya, were young.
