WASHINGTON, DC: Senator JD Vance, who has faced criticism for his controversial remarks about women since being chosen as Donald Trump's running mate, sparked another controversy on Wednesday, August 14, by implying that concern for abortion rights is not "normal" for women.

In a country grappling with the aftermath of Roe v Wade's overturn, where Republican legislators have curtailed rights for millions of women across numerous states, Vance appeared to be oblivious to the significance of this issue in the forthcoming election when questioned by Fox News anchor Laura Ingraham.

“One of my dear friends said to me tonight that all these suburban women - all they care about is abortion, and they don’t understand the decision is with the states now. It’s not banned nationally, even if some people want it to be banned nationally,” Ingraham said.

She further asked, “What do you say to suburban women out there who are marinating in this propaganda?”

Vance quickly proposed that such worries were not normal. “Well, first of all, I don’t buy that, Laura. I think most suburban women care about the normal things that most Americans care about, right?” he replied.

He went on to say, “They care about inflation, they care about the price of groceries, they care about public safety in the streets where their kids play.”

Vance asserted that Trump, with his three Supreme Court appointees voting to overturn Roe v Wade and his recent openness to banning the abortion pill mifepristone, has "charted a very reasonable course for the American people" regarding the abortion debate.

Since the conservative-majority court's decision in June 2022, voters have opposed attempts to limit abortion rights not just in traditionally Democratic states such as California and Vermont, but also in Kansas, Kentucky, and Vance's home state of Ohio, Daily Beast reported.

The results in Ohio were "pretty sobering" for Ingraham's colleague, Sean Hannity, who expressed worry that the GOP might be alienating suburban voters.

Vance appeared to disagree with Ingraham's comments. Additionally, during the interview, Trump's running mate did not commit to the October 1 debate with his Democratic counterpart, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who later responded to Vance's remarks on abortion.

“It’s pretty normal to respect a woman’s right to make her own damn health care decisions,” Walz responded by writing on X.

Internet slams JD Vance as 'weird'

As soon as JD Vance's quote surfaced on social media, users began reacting to it. A user wrote talking of Vance, "So friggin weird"

Another added, "He is so wrong even Nationwide isn't on his side."

The third commentator remarked, "He's so weird he doesn't understand normal"

"I don't believe he is human. I need him to submit to a DNA test to prove it," one said.

A person slammed Vance, "Vance is dumb as f**k and super weird, Has 0 respect for women."

Other chimed in, "Vance is weird. I wonder if he will change his name again after he and Trump lose."
