Lauren Sanchez refers to starting the year with 'turbulence'

In the photo, Lauren Sanchez appears to be wearing aviator gear, including a mic-fitted headset. Dressed casually in an off-white tank top, Chanel sunglasses, and a denim baseball cap, the mother of three appeared to gaze out of the window as she was flying the aircraft.

She accompanied the photo with a thoughtful caption: "Some years start with turbulence, but that's just the wind reminding you to spread your wings. Good to be back in the air... Here's to flying farther than we ever imagined."

While it is not known what kind of turbulence she is hinting at, Sanchez indeed stirred controversy over her choice of attire for Donald Trump's presidential inauguration on January 20, in Washington, DC.

For the occasion, Sanchez, known for her bold dressing, paired a lace bustier with a white Alexander McQueen pantsuit, which many deemed inappropriate.

While a section of fans sided with her, 'The Fly Who Flew To Space' author also found herself at the end of several scathing tirades including one from former Fox News journalist Megyn Kelly.

On her 'The Megyn Kelly Show' on Sirius XM, the conservative commentator slammed Sanchez’s fashion moment as "absurd," adding that people "should be talking about the inauguration" and not her attire.

She continued in her tirade, which Kelly later posted on Instagram, "Have some dignity and some respect for your setting in your circumstances. No one should be talking about your t**s. Sorry."

While Sanchez directly did not respond to Kelly’s rant, she appeared to address her critics when she penned a telling post on her Instagram Stories.

"People feel good about themselves make other people feel good too. Turns out the opposite is also true. Remember that," wrote the journalist, as reported by The Spun.

Lauren Sanchez learned to fly when she was 40

Lauren Sanchez, who decided to pursue the art of flying when she was 40, opened up about the enlightening experience during an interview with People in 2024.

The Emmy winner reminisced about her childhood, sharing that she had always been "around aviation" as her parents owned a flight school.

"I was always around aviation. One day I told my dad, 'I think I want to learn to fly.' It may have been the best day of his life," Sanchez shared.

She went on, "I was 40 years old when this happened. My dad helped me find an instructor in California, and I remember the instructor saying, 'Your dad's a pilot, your mom's a pilot. You must know a lot about aircraft.'"

"And I said, 'The only thing I know is to stay away from the propeller,'" she quipped, before adding, "And he goes, 'OK, we have a lot of work to do here.'"

A dedicated student, it was a matter of no time, before she got her license, and started her aerial filming company, Black Ops Aviation.

Sanchez further shared in the interview, "It was an incredible experience because I think only three percent of helicopter pilots were women at the time. Now I think it's about six percent."

"I just think that growing up, women don't see a lot of female aviators," she reflected, before noting, "And so I hope women might see me as a pilot and say, 'Hey, I want to do that!'"

"It's really an incredible experience, and I love it," concluded the licensed aviator, who has since provided inspiration to many to take up the pursuit of flying.
