PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Jeff Bezos and his fiancee, Lauren Sanchez, were spotted entering Mar-a-Lago on Wednesday, December 18, for a private dinner with President-elect Donald Trump.

The meeting reportedly marks the first time the Amazon founder has dined with the MAGA spearhead since his reelection, signaling a potential thaw in their historically rocky relationship, as per the New York Post.

Jeff Bezos is 'optimistic' about Donald Trump's second term

The shift in the duo's relationship began when Jeff Bezos asked The Washington Post, which he bought in 2013, not to endorse any candidate in the 2024 presidential election, breaking the newspaper's tradition of typically backing Democrats.

Speaking at The New York Times’ DealBook Summit earlier this month, the business magnate shared his thoughts on Trump’s return to office, and said, "I’m actually very optimistic this time around."

The 60-year-old added, "He seems to have a lot of energy around reducing regulation. If I can help do that, I’m going to help him," before emphasizing, "We do have too many regulations in this country."

Trump, on his part, voiced enthusiasm for reconnecting with business leaders ahead of his second term.

After ringing the New York Stock Exchange bell last week, he commented on his approach to collaboration, saying, "I want to get ideas from them. Look, we want them to do well."

Moreover, Bezos informed Trump’s team that he would contribute $1 million to his inaugural fund, as per The Wall Street Journal

Internet mocks Jeff Bezos for trying to buddy up with Donald Trump

The growing proximity between Jeff Bezos and Donald Trump has led many netizens to question the true motives of such tech moguls, especially as the Amazon founder was once at odds with the president-elect.

One said, "Interesting how quickly alliances shift when power dynamics change. Do you think these tech leaders are genuinely supportive or just playing politics to stay in favor?"

Following suit, another added, "Bezos, Zuckerberg, and Tim Cook all cozying up to Trump tells you everything you need to know—money follows power, not 'woke' nonsense. These billionaires are positioning themselves."

"Strategic alliances between tech and political leadership create powerful opportunities - Bezos understands the value of maintaining relationships across power structures to protect long-term business interests," a person remarked.

"Bezos switching teams? After donating $1M to Trump’s inauguration, Jeff Bezos spotted at Mar-a-Lago trying to buddy up with the President-elect. Looks like Silicon Valley’s now playing ‘The Apprentice’ with Trump!" an individual quipped.

Another person joked, "It's looking like a billionaire capitulation tour," while another echoed, "Trying to buy favour."

"It's normal for tech big shots to cozy up to politicians for sway. Bezos' donation and meet with Trump is all about playing the game," one pointed out.

Tech titans court President-elect Donald Trump

Jeff Bezos is one of several tech leaders engaging with Donald Trump as he prepares for his second term.

Similar to Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta Platforms also announced a $1 million donation to the inauguration fund.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is reportedly planning a $1 million donation inaugural fund. In a written statement, he said, "President Trump will lead our country into the age of AI, and I am eager to support his efforts to ensure America stays ahead."

TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew recently met with Trump at Mar-a-Lago as the platform faces a potential nationwide ban. The MAGA spearhead assured that his administration would "take a look at TikTok," noting that he has "a warm spot in my heart for TikTok because I won youth by 34 points."

Google CEO Sundar Pichai also has an upcoming meeting scheduled with the president-elect.

Elon Musk, a key figure in Trump’s campaign, continues to offer his support to the president-elect and is set to lead the newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) with Vivek Ramaswami.
