Jennifer Aniston 'hurt' as George Clooney 'ghosted' her after Lake Como snub: Source
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: George Clooney and Jennifer Aniston have maintained a close friendship for years, but a source recently revealed that their bond has deteriorated.
The insider told In Touch Weekly that although the actor continues to speak positively about the actress, the harsh truth is that he does not spend much time with her anymore.
Moreover, the 'Friends' star was hoping for an invitation to spend the summer with George and his wife, Amal Clooney, in Lake Como, Italy, but it never arrived.
Jennifer Aniston 'feels pretty ghosted' by George Clooney
Speaking to In Touch, the insider noted, "George still says the nicest things about Jen, but the cold reality is that he rarely sees her anymore, and she was counting on an invite to visit him and Amal [Clooney] in Lake Como this summer that just hasn’t come."
According to the source, Jennifer is "not the type to bring it up," but she "certainly noticed that she didn’t make the list and Brad [Pitt] did."
They added, "She was there last year and had a great time and there was all sorts of talk about doing it again this year, and now the summer has come and gone without a word about it."
The insider further revealed, "Jen isn’t the only one that’s fallen down on George’s list now that Brad is back on the scene. Julia Roberts didn’t get an invite for a summer visit either and everyone has noticed."
Although Jennifer was not the only person left off George and Amal's guest list, she found the situation to be "quite hurtful."
"She’s not likely to confront him or rant and rave about it, but it’s definitely a big dent to her ego because she really thought her friendship with George was a lot more special than it’s turned out to be. Truth is, she feels pretty ghosted," dished the tipster.
Regarding George's friendship with Brad Pitt, who Jennifer was married to from 2000 until 2005, they shared, "Truth is, he’s just a lot closer with Brad these days and Brad has essentially taken her spot, or at least that’s how it looks to her."
Jennifer Aniston and George Clooney previously 'clashed' over how to honor Matthew Perry
According to earlier reports, Jennifer Aniston and George Clooney had disagreements on how to honor their mutual friend Matthew Perry, who died on October 28, 2023, at his Los Angeles residence.
A source told the National Enquirer, "It's a dramatic clash of perspectives as Jennifer remains staunch in her determination to preserve a positive image of Perry," as per The Mirror.
They added, "She wants to emphasize the joy he brought into the world, particularly highlighting that he seemed happy on the day he passed away."
George, however, desired a more genuine and realistic approach in an effort to teach others from Matthew's experiences and help them avoid similar mistakes.
The source noted, "Clooney, known for his candid honesty, believes being truthful about Matthew's challenges - particularly with addiction - could serve as a valuable lesson and help others facing similar battles."
As per an autopsy report, Matthew died as a result of "acute effects of ketamine" and subsequent drowning. He was reportedly receiving "ketamine infusion therapy for depression and anxiety."
