Jennifer Lopez rejects 'Blake Lively situation' claims over Netflix thriller with Robert Zemeckis
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Jennifer Lopez has dismissed reports of a behind-the-scenes clash with director Robert Zemeckis over her upcoming Netflix thriller, 'The Last Mrs Parrish'.
A Page Six report claimed the actress had become involved in the film's final edit after test screenings, with some comparing the alleged situation to Blake Lively's reported dispute with Justin Baldoni over 'It Ends With Us'. However, Lopez, Zemeckis and Netflix have pushed back against the claims, insisting that the filmmakers are working together.
Jennifer Lopez and Robert Zemeckis deny reports of a clash
Reports suggested that Lopez had stepped into the editing room after the thriller reportedly received a poor response during test screenings. One source claimed that the actress was trying to take charge of the project.

“She’s tried to take it over. She fancies herself a filmmaker,” the source told Page Six. “It’s been testing terrible. Lopez panicked and has been in the editing room. Behind the scenes, everyone’s saying it’s a Blake Lively (situation).”
Another source offered a different take on Lopez’s reported involvement, saying she was trying to help improve the film. “She’s taking over... But she’s just trying to salvage the movie,” the insider said.
Netflix, however, denied claims that the film had performed poorly during test screenings. “The film tested well, particularly with fans of Jennifer,” the streaming service said.
Lopez, Zemeckis and Netflix also released a joint statement rejecting reports of tension between the actress and director.
“As we have said to Page Six, this reporting is categorically false. Any suggestion that the filmmakers are not working in unison is without merit,” they said.

What to know about Jennifer Lopez's Netflix thriller 'The Last Mrs Parrish'
'The Last Mrs Parrish' is based on the 2017 bestselling novel by Liv Constantine, the pen name of sisters Lynne and Valerie Constantine. The story follows Amber, a con artist played by Isabel May, who tries to get close to a wealthy couple portrayed by Lopez and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.
The film also features Pierson Fode, Debi Mazar and Denis O'Hare. Zemeckis, known for directing 'Forrest Gump', 'Back to the Future' and 'Cast Away', is directing the project, which is expected to arrive on Netflix in 2027.
Why Jennifer Lopez's reported film dispute drew Blake Lively comparisons
The reported claims brought back memories of the creative differences between Lively and 'It Ends With Us' director and co-star Justin Baldoni. The two reportedly disagreed over the final version of the 2024 romantic drama, with Lively said to have worked on a separate cut of the film.

Their professional tensions later became part of a wider legal dispute. Lively accused Baldoni of many things, allegations he denied. The legal battle reportedly ended in a settlement in May 2026.
In Lopez's case, the actress, Zemeckis and Netflix have publicly denied reports of a disagreement and said they are working together.
