Jessica Simpson keen to date musician after Eric Johnson split, pals fear she may return to her wild ways
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jessica Simpson is reportedly on the lookout for love just weeks after confirming her split from Eric Johnson. Sources reveal that the 44-year-old singer is eager to find a new man and has been asking friends to set her up, as she is not interested in using celebrity dating apps.
Simpson is reportedly hoping for a suitor from within the entertainment industry. Simpson and Johnson, who met in 2010 and married in 2014, announced the end of their 10-year marriage on January 13, 2025.
The couple shares three children: Maxwell, 12; Ace, 11; and Birdie, 5.
Jessica Simpson yearing to find love again
Sources shared with RadarOnline that Jessica Simpson is not relying on dating apps to find love again.
"She's not looking for love online or hang out at bars. She wants to meet someone through friends. Ideally she'd love to meet a musician because that’s her focus right now," an insider spilled.
The source also mentioned another reason for her eagerness to date again: the lack of physical intimacy in her previous relationship with Johnson.
"As their relationship went south, so did their love life, which was kind of the final nail in the coffin," the source said.
"They were just limping along hoping for a miracle. Now that they've filed for divorce, she’s free to start looking around. She'll be respectful of Eric, but there's no doubt she’s eager to have some romance back in her life," they added.
The source said Simpson wants passion in her life and is "raring to have fun again".
Jessica Simpson's close ones worry how she will cope without Eric Johnson
Jessica Simpson recently shared that she’s been in the recording studio working on new music. Her last album 'Happy Christmas' released in 2010.
The insider added, "She's very wrapped up in her music these days, so it's understandable that she'd love to date someone else in the music industry."
But Simpson's loved ones are worried that after her split from Johnson, her return to dating could lead her back to her old partying habits.
Simpson had previously admitted to using opiates, alcohol, and diet pills to cope with crippling insecurity, starting around 2006 and continuing until Halloween night in 2017.
Johnson had served as a stabilizing force in her life, and now that he’s no longer in the picture, some worry she could stray off course.
The source continued, "Eric has been a stabilizing force for Jessica. People in her life are very concerned about how she's going to cope without him."
Another insider expressed concerns, stating, "It took so much strength for her to beat back her demons. She'll be greatly tempted – and perhaps even relent – now that her marriage has fallen apart."
Earlier this year, reports indicated that Johnson had become frustrated with Simpson’s behavior, and the couple was mostly living separately while co-parenting their children amicably.
"They've obviously been teetering on the brink for so long that no one is shocked about the end. No one can live that way forever. They tried for the kids, but it simply didn't work," the source added.
