Things took a hilariously awkward turn when Jimmy Kimmel decided to celebrate Selena Gomez's engagement with a truly unconventional gift.

The talk show host congratulated Gomez on her engagement and prefaced the present by saying, “This is something that is not traditional … it’s not necessarily a practical gift, but I think you and Benny are really going to enjoy it.”

And what was the gift? A Daddy Saddle!

A Daddy Saddle is designed for fathers to give pony rides to their children. On the front of the box was an image of a small child sitting on a saddle that had been strapped onto her father’s back like a horse. 

As Kimmel unveiled the bizarre present, Gomez initially laughed and then covered her mouth in shock as she realized the double meaning behind the gift.

The Rare Beauty mogul tried to keep her composure as Kimmel explained, “You can ride around on Benny in a very wholesome way. I don’t want you to think that anything is being suggested here that isn’t."

But then he took it a step further, jokingly asking her to imagine sitting “on top” of Blanco, per BuzzFeed.

Trying to stifle her laughter (and embarrassment), she said, “OK, yeah, yeah,” effectively signaling to Kimmel that he’d gone far enough.

Despite the awkwardness, Gomez graciously said “thank you” and accepted the gift, though her expression said it all—this Daddy Saddle isn’t making it to her wedding registry anytime soon.

Gomez shared the news of her engagement via an Instagram carousel on December 11, 2024, which included an up-close snap of her engagement ring and a photo of her and Blanco celebrating their engagement with laughs and a hug.
