WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden, in his address, which many netizens described as "beaming" and "happy," said, "We accept the choice the country made," following Donald Trump's victory.

While encouraging his supporters to "get back up" in his brief remarks from the White House Rose Garden on Thursday, November 7 morning, Biden said, "I will honor the constitution."

Joe Biden on 'peaceful transfer of power' to Donald Trump

Joe Biden said he would do his duty and proceed to a peaceful transfer of power on January 20, while also respecting the oath and constitution. 

"I will do my duty as president. I'll fulfill my oath, and I will honor the Constitution. On January 20, we'll have a peaceful transfer of power here in America," he said. 



 

The POTUS also spoke with a smile in his first address after Trump's landslide victory, noted Daily Mail.

Joe Biden on Donald Trump's win: 'Country chooses one or the other'

Admitting that it was a difficult time, Joe Biden said the country has made its choice.

"I know it's a difficult time. You're hurting. I hear you and I see you," he said.

"A country chooses one or the other. We accept the choice the country makes," he added.

“We accept the choice the country made,” he said, adding, “I’ve said many times you can’t love your country only when you win. You can’t love your neighbor only when you agree.”

He also encouraged Americans disheartened by Kamal Harris' defeat to remain steadfast.

“Setbacks are unavoidable, but giving up is unforgivable. We all get knocked down, but the measure of our character, as my dad would say, is how quickly we get back up," Biden said.

"Remember, a defeat does not mean we are defeated,” the President added. “We lost this battle. The America of your dreams is calling for you to get back up.”

Internet reactions to Joe Biden's address after Donald Trump's victory

The Internet erupted with reactions and memes implying Joe Biden was overjoyed after Donald Trump's victory. There were also jokes that, after his exit from the race, he and his wife Jill Biden might have even cast their votes for Trump.

"He seemed almost giddy." wrote one on X (formerly Twitter). "He totally voted for Trump," joked another. "Pretty sure Jill voted for Trump," added one more user

One posted a meme, an edited photo of Biden with a MAGA hat, captioned, "We did it, Joe!" congratulating Trump and Robert F Kennedy Jr.

"Joe Biden is the happiest man in America today," wrote Daily Wire co-founder, Ben Shapiro.

One doubled down on the post writing, "Only Democrat who beat Donald Trump."
