Joe Keery reveals which ‘Stranger Things’ co-star is most active in group chat months after finale
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Joe Keery has revealed that he and his former 'Stranger Things' costars continue to keep in touch through their group chat, nearly a year after the Netflix series finale.
The actor also shared which cast member is “maybe” the most active in the conversation. Keery made the revelation while attending the opening night of his Broadway show, 'Other Desert Cities,' in New York City on October 18.

Joe Keery reveals active ‘Stranger Things’ group chat
Keery, 34, told PEOPLE that the 'Stranger Things' group chat remains active, suggesting that Finn Wolfhard, 23, might be the cast member who participates the most. “Oh, man, maybe Finn [Wolfhard], I guess maybe, yeah, we’re keeping in touch,” he said during the opening night.
Keery played Steve Harrington, the jock-turned-strategic protector, in 'Stranger Things,' which ran for five seasons from July 2016 to December 2025. Wolfhard portrayed Mike Wheeler, the emotional anchor of the group.
Series co-creator Matt Duffer, 42, previously offered insight into the friendship between the two actors during the show's early seasons.
Speaking at a panel at The Paley Museum in New York City in December, Duffer recalled how Wolfhard used to follow Keery around on set.

“That’s exactly how Finn was with Joe back in the day,” Duffer said while discussing younger actors following Wolfhard around during the filming of the final season. “I mean, Finn followed Joe around like a little puppy dog. It was so cute.”
Wolfhard, who was also present at the panel, responded humorously to Duffer's recollection.
He quipped, “And then Joe would follow me around,” before explaining how he took on a protective role in the final season, mirroring the dynamic between the younger cast members and Keery during the first season.
“I got to kind of weirdly do what these guys did in the first season, which is kind of protect ... It almost felt like I was protecting like a younger version of myself or that we were, this season, protecting versions of our younger selves, and that was really fun,” he said.

Joe Keery shares Sadie Sink’s Broadway advice
Away from 'Stranger Things,' Keery is starring in the Broadway revival of 'Other Desert Cities' alongside Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Allison Janney, Ed Harris and Lily Rabe. The production marks the Broadway debuts of both Keery and Louis-Dreyfus.
Directed by John Benjamin Hickey, the family drama centers on a holiday gathering that threatens to unravel decades of carefully guarded secrets.
Keery plays Trip, a television producer caught between his sister, played by Rabe, 44, and his parents, portrayed by Louis-Dreyfus, 65, and Harris, 75.
During the show's opening night on October 18, Keery also spoke to PEOPLE about receiving advice from his former costars Sadie Sink and Gaten Matarazzo, both of whom have ventured into theatre.

Keery revealed that Sink offered him advice before her production of 'Romeo & Juliet' opened. He met her while he was across the pond, and she encouraged him to explore theatre.
“Yeah, Sadie did. I saw her before 'Romeo & Juliet' opened when I was across the pond, and she had some good words of advice and really kind of urged me to do [theater too]. She thought I would have a nice time,” Keery said.
He also shared that he had been exchanging text messages with Matarazzo following the opening of Rent, in which the actor is performing.
“And then I’ve been texting Gaten as Rent has opened, and yeah, he’s killing it over there,” Keery said.
