John Stamos addresses backlash over his Mar-a-Lago appearance: 'Supporting nurses isn’t political'

PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: John Stamos isn’t backing down after catching heat online for attending a charity gala at Mar-a-Lago — and he’s making it clear that his appearance had nothing to do with politics.
The 'Full House' alum, 61, faced backlash over the weekend after photos surfaced of him attending an event at President Donald Trump’s Florida estate.
Left-wing fans of the actor and musician exploded with outrage on social media, accusing Stamos of going “full MAGA”. But it looks like he’s not here for that noise.

John Stamos stands tall following backlash
The event in question was a nonprofit fundraiser in South Florida thrown to honor frontline healthcare workers. And John Stamos wasn’t just a guest — he was the emcee, Fox News reported.
Facing the backlash, Stamos took to Instagram to shut down the hate and clear the air about why he was there in the first place.
“I accepted the invitation to emcee the Palm Beach Ray of Hope Gala – an evening dedicated to honoring and uplifting our frontline heroes,” he wrote. “This nonpartisan event supports The Academy for Nursing and Health Occupations, a 501(c)(3) organization that trains 350-400 nurses every year, directly addressing the critical shortage of healthcare professionals in Palm Beach County.”
In other words, this wasn’t a Trump rally.
“Supporting nurses isn’t political – it’s essential," he continued. “These are the people who care for us and our families when we need it most, and I believe we should show up for them with the same unwavering dedication they show up with every single day.”
Stamos concluded by saying: “I stand by the importance of healthcare, of service, and of investing in those who care for our communities. My values and political views remain unchanged and if you don't donate to Palm Beach Ray of Hope, then please consider donating to Democracy Forward.”

Liberals on the internet lost it upon learning about Beach Boys musician's appearance at Trump's Florida abode.
"John Stamos at Mar-a-Lago? Disappointing. Uncle Jesse would never. Time to cancel Full House reruns, can’t watch without thinking of this betrayal. What’s next, DJ Tanner at a MAGA rally? Gross," one fumed on X.

"Just did a little research. He was the MC of a charity event called dancing with the Palm Beach stars that was at Mar-A-Lago. Quite the slippery slope here for an individual who, has in the past, supported the Democrats," another offered.

"Sad. @JohnStamos, I hope you realize that you will never, ever be welcome back on Broadway. We have long memories. Say goodbye to that part of what's left of your career," a comment read.

"What’s up with all of the washed-up, once upon a time, 1980’s-90’s celebrities going full on MAGA? Haven’t their careers been ended already? Sad," another lamented.

But this isn’t Stamos’s first rodeo when it comes to public service — and he’s got the track record to prove it.
Giving back is in John Stamos' DNA
Back in December 2022, the General Hospital alum spoke with Fox News about emceeing another fundraiser — this time for the LA County Sheriff’s Academy Class 464 — where he made it clear he’s always been about giving back.
“If you're not helping out the community, what are you doing right? You know, it's my community,” Stamos said at the time. “I was so touched by this story, which was, well these recruits were not only just young kids trying to do their best. A lot of these kids were also trying to get out of situations that they were in, bad situations, avoiding being in gangs.”
It hits close to home for him.
“I grew up here, so it’s doubly sensitive for me,” he said. “I’ve always been pro-cop. I’m teaching my son to be. Any time we see an officer in our neighborhood, we go say ‘hi’ and say ‘thank you.’”
And it’s not just him doing the heavy lifting. His wife, Caitlin McHugh Stamos, is co-founder of Civic Soul—a nonprofit devoted to bridging divides through “acts of service, compassion, and shared humanity.”
