NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Comedian Jon Stewart claimed President Joe Biden would fail to secure a job as simple as a Home Depot cashier based on his performance at the CNN presidential debate on July 27, reported Fox News.

The remarks were made by 'The Daily Show' host on the Thursday, July 11 episode of 'The Weekly Show with Jon Stewart,' where he was accompanied by his guests, Jon Favreau and Tommy Vietor of 'Pod Save America' and CNN political commentator Bakari Sellers.

The conversation in the week's episode revolved around the future of the Biden presidency and the response of the Democratic Party to previous crises.

Conversation over the looming crisis over Joe Biden's presidency

Since the debate night last month, voices have been growing across the aisle in favor of incumbent Joe Biden to step down from the presidential race.

"Bill Clinton on the eve of it all, it came out he had had an affair, I can't remember- Jennifer Flowers I think it was, and then it was the Paula Jones situation, and then there was the Monica Lewinsky situation and Democrats did fall in line," shared Stewart. "I mean people made- 'Oh, this is terrible and I'm disappointed with the president,' but ultimately the Democrats did fall in line."

Bakari Seller pointed out that the same was true for Republicans and their presumptive nominee Donald Trump, who stated in 2016 that the party doesn't "fall in love," they "fall in line."

However, Stewart believed the situation was different in Biden's case, as it involved his health and mental acuity.

"I think that you are soft selling the more fundamental aspect of people viewing somebody who, I'll be perfectly honest with you... I don't know of a job interview that you could have gone on and delivered the performance that was delivered by Joe Biden and gotten a job," he said.

"I'm not talking about the presidency, I'm talking about, like, cashier at Home Depot, like a job that you would not think, ‘Okay, that is the hardest job in the entire world.’"

"The only problem with that, Jon, and the only problem with framing it as such is the fact that you discount everything that he's accomplished in the first three and a half years," countered Sellers.

Stewart, in turn, responded that the doubts over Biden do not concern his performance in the last three-and-half years, but his ability to continue to deliver for the next four years.

Internet agrees with Jon Stewart's assessment

Netizens responding to the news over the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) held a similar opinion to Stewart.

However, some of them also called him out for "disrespecting" Home Depot workers, as the following tweets demonstrate.

"Why is he out here disrespecting Home Depot cashiers?" inquired a person of Stewart.

"I used to work for Home Depot. The bar was low… but yeah, not that low," commented another.

"Jon Stewart is so right!! Why would we give Biden 4 more years! No way!" expressed a user. [sic]

"Please, more respect for all @HomeDepot cashiers, they don’t suffer from dementia," quipped another.

"Dont like when they use examples like this...it's so demeaning," commented one more user.
