NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: While the hosts of 'The View' were discussing ICE raids, Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown, and chaos in Los Angeles, Joy Behar had something else on her mind—California’s slick-haired governor, Gavin Newsom.

The 82-year-old comedian suddenly swerved from the topic of deportation to daydreaming about the man leading the Golden State, telling her co-hosts she’s been feeling a certain way about Newsom.

Joy Behar thirsts for Gavin Newsom

The whole exchange kicked off after Sara Haines called out what she described as “money waste” under Donald Trump’s leadership, blasting the current administration for taking a “careless hacksaw” to government functions. She said the decision to send troops into LA was a “waste of money” and could’ve been better spent elsewhere.

"It’s a waste of money for Americans," Haines said. She added that the National Guard funds could’ve helped with fire recovery, something Newsom himself flagged in his Tuesday night address.

Behar chimed in, reminding viewers that "certain detractors threatened to kill Mike Pence on Jan 6." That’s when the conversation turned to House Speaker Mike Johnson, who stirred controversy by saying Gavin Newsom should be “tarred and feathered” for opposing Trump’s immigration moves.

"But, tarring and feathering is a medieval punishment and torture," Haines noted, before Goldberg chimed in.

"I'm sorry, that's what they did to Black people all throughout the United States," she snapped. "Just an FYI to Mike Johnson, that's probably not the direction you want to go in."

Behar invoked another controversial flashback — the Kathy Griffin scandal that saw the comedian pose with a fake decapitated Trump head.

But then she gushed about how Newsom reminded her of presidents who looked good and sounded good, like John F Kennedy and Barack Obama.

"Can I just say, I don't want to be superficial, but Gavin Newsom brings me back to really handsome presidents, like JFK and Obama," Behar mused. "Wouldn't it be nice to have an articulate, gorgeous president like that again? Just saying."

The studio audience applauded the bizarre comment, as they always do. But Whoopi Goldberg looked rather confused. Alyssa Farah Griffin giggled and quickly tried to move things along, offering her analysis of Trump’s latest move.

"What I think he's doing is he is baiting liberals and liberal governors like Gavin Newsom into taking the bait and adopting rhetoric that he thinks is going to be divisive and damaging ahead of the midterm," she said.

Joy Behar slammed on social media

Unsurprisingly, Joy Behar’s televised crush on Gavin Newsom and comparisons to JFK didn’t go over well with everyone.

"Today Joy Behar showed she's a moron beyond all doubt when she compared greasy Gavin Newsom to JFK. What an idiot she is," one critic blasted on X.

Another took a swing at Democrats in general. "Joy Behar proved me right today. I always said that democrats like nice book covers, not the content. Today, she says Newsom brings her back to a handsome President like Obama. I would rather have a President who cares about my country, my security & my well-being. Content is critical," they wrote.

A comment read, "Of all the dumb crap that has come out of Behar's dumb mouth, today's comment comparing greasy Gavin Newsom to JFK just might be the dumbest. Behar, you moron."

Someone else reminded folks of Newsom’s pandemic-era blunder. "Ok, that would be good, you Imbecile, this guy locked up everyone in their homes, yet he was at a French restaurant."

"Good looks won't get the Job done," another offered.
