PHOENIX, ARIZONA: Eva Longoria found herself at the center of a firestorm after openly endorsing President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris' reelection campaign, as reported by Daily Mail.

The 'Desperate Housewives' star's decision to back the incumbent at a high-profile event in Phoenix, Arizona, aimed at mobilizing Latinas, was met with backlash across social media platforms.

Longoria's scheduled appearance was part of a broader effort by the Biden-Harris campaign to secure support from the Latinx community, a significant voting bloc. The actress sought to address mothers and young Latinas about the importance of voting for Biden and Harris to maintain control of the White House.

The event was designed to highlight the campaign's stance that former President Donald Trump had "demonized Latinos throughout his political career."

It's important to note that the Biden campaign reportedly canceled the Phoenix event, scheduled for Monday, May 13, mentioning unspecified travel issues, as per AZCentral

Long known for her support of Democratic causes, Longoria's endorsement of the 2024 Biden-Harris campaign isn't her first foray into political activism.

Previously, she screened her film 'Flamin' Hot' at the White House, backed by President Biden himself. The actress also endorsed former President Barack Obama during his reelection campaign.

The actress, a staunch advocate for Latina empowerment, has been vocal about her commitment to uplifting young Latinas in the US. In an interview with Hota Kotb on the 'Today' Show as part of NBC's 2023 Inspiration List, she emphasized her belief in their potential for influence and change.

"I knew I wanted to help Latinas specifically reach their full potential. That's a big idea, but just telling people you believe in their potential, it's a big deal," explained Longoria.

Reflecting on her career, Longoria revealed she initially felt overwhelmed by the fame she gained from 'Desperate Housewives'. This realization drove her to pursue a Master’s in Chicano Studies from California State University.

Her thesis for the course, "Success STEMS From Diversity: The Value of Latinas in STEM Careers," highlighted her dedication to promoting diversity and encouraging Latinas to pursue careers in STEM fields.
