Justin Timberlake was arrested for DWI after someone tipped off police about singer, report claims
HAMPTONS, NEW YORK: Justin Timberlake’s arrest a little after midnight on June 18 in Long Island happened after someone tipped off police about him, a source has reportedly claimed.
An unnamed well-connected Southampton restaurateur told The New York Post, “[They] said Justin was having a lot of drinks, and they told the cop to watch him if he is going to drive,” without mentioning any hint about the tipster.
Southampton restaurateur claims Justin Timberlake was ‘treated unfairly’
The eatery owner also noted, “[He was] definitely treated unfairly. Everyone drives through that stop sign when no one is there.”
“He was always a gentleman. People always recognize him, and they ask him for a picture, and he always says yes. He has the hat pulled down and the sunglasses, so it’s hard to recognize him, but some people do,” they revealed.
“He’s not like Leonardo [DiCaprio]. Leo does not like to be recognized, and he will even curse. He does not take pictures, especially if he is with a bunch of models,” the insider added, before asserting, “If you live in America, you know who Justin Timberlake is. The cop did his job, but he definitely knew who Justin was.”
Another businessman supports cop
However, another local businessman, Mark Zucchero, 54, has defended the cop who arrested Timberlake.
Zucchero reportedly said, “[The cop is] definitely not a bad guy. He’s diligent, he does a good job. He just didn’t know who Justin Timberlake was! That’s all, pretty simple.”
According to the 43-year-old singer’s arrest report, “A strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot, and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.”
But Timberlake had insisted on drinking only “one martini,” as reported by PEOPLE.

Meanwhile, during his show on Saturday, June 22 at Chicago's United Center, the ‘Prince of Pop’ expressed his gratitude for the love he has continued to receive from his fans.
He said, “This [tour] is just something that keeps watching over me, more so on this tour than any other. And that's that mostly all of us here in this room tonight, in this arena tonight, have grown up together. So many of you come up to me and say, 'I grew up with you, man.'”
“You have been such a big and beautiful part of my life and sometimes I can't find the words to show my gratitude that you guys just keep riding with me and riding with me,” Timberlake added.
