LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Katy Perry has reportedly been begging to be put back as a judge on 'American Idol' amid a flooded $15 million mansion and the disastrous release of her most recent album.

The 'Roar' singer, who announced her departure from the singing competition earlier this year, has allegedly been "scrambling" to return to the "steady gig," as reported by Radar Online.

Katy Perry apparently wants to return to 'steady gig' on 'American Idol'

After seven years on the reality show, Katy Perry announced her exit, saying she wanted to return to concentrating on her musical "comeback" and her family, which includes her fiance Orlando Bloom, and their three-year-old daughter Daisy.

Sources reveal that "cranky" Perry is begging 'American Idol' producers to bring her back after her most recent album, '143', failed to take off and was met with a hoard of negative reviews.

"American Idol was a safe, steady gig for Katy. Now that her album has flopped, she's scrambling to reclaim her spot at the judges' table," shared an insider.

They added, "It's a clear sign even she knows her days as a chart-topping artist are behind her. But Carrie's got the gig now — and unless the new season is a ratings disaster, there's no way katy is getting back in that chair!"

Former 'American Idol' champion Carrie Underwood will judge Season 23 next spring alongside Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, as per the outlet.

Katy Perry's '143' album was a disaster

Katy Perry's album '143' dropped.on September 20. It included the track, 'Woman's World,' which was criticized as "cringe" and an outdated attempt at a feminist anthem.

Major music magazine NME dubbed it "the most disastrous comeback single in recent memory."

The publication claimed that the failure of the album was caused in part by Perry's choice to collaborate with controversial producer Dr Luke, who was accused of sexual, physical, verbal, and emotional abuse by Kesha in 2014. After nearly a decade of suits and countersuits, the 'Tik Tok' singer and Dr Luke settled in June 2023.

The single 'Woman's World' was the poorest performance of any Perry lead single to date, peaking at number 63 on the Billboard Hot 100 and only remaining on the chart for one week.

'143' followed her quickly forgotten last album, 'Smile', which was released during the height of the pandemic and immediately fell off the charts, as per Variety.

'143' effectively removes the traces of Perry's exuberant personality that launched her to popularity in the early 2010s. The album is uninteresting, coasting on a steady stream of musical ideas and cliched lyrics that seldom ever rise.

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom's $15 million mansion damaged by 'significant water leak'

To make matters worse, Katy Perry recently experienced yet another disaster when a water leak damaged her $15 million California mansion. The singer's enormous house has been observed to require significant repairs.

In Touch Weekly revealed that the pop star's 1930s mansion, which she won in her legal battle against Carl Westcott, had a huge water leak before she could move in.

Westcott's attorney told the outlet, "Namely, during escrow for the transfer of the title, the buyer and realtors showed up for a pre-agreed inspection of the house."

They added, "Mr Westcott’s house manager showed up to unlock the home. Upon opening the door, it was discovered that during the last 24 to 48 hours, a significant water leak in the house (feet of water not inches) had occurred, which greatly expanded the scope of alleged repairs."

In 2020, the veteran sued Perry's business manager, Bernie Gudvi, to void an agreement to sell his property to the famous couple. The 85-year-old claimed that at the time of signing the contract, he was under a lot of medication and had just recovered from back surgery.

He said that when he called Perry's representative a few days later to terminate the contract, her team turned him down. The court ruled in favor of the singer during the trial's initial phase, in November 2023.

According to the judge, Westcott "presented no persuasive evidence that he lacked capacity to enter into a real estate contract." Perry was awarded the home.

Phase two of the trial will determine the amount of damages Westcott will have to pay. However, this week, the aged entrepreneur requested that phase two be postponed until December or early 2025.
