Kim Kardashian reveals Kris Humphries wouldn’t divorce her until she returned 18-carat ring she paid for

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kim Kardashian, founder of SKIMS, recently opened up about a lingering regret from her brief marriage to Kris Humphries.
She revealed that during their divorce settlement, he requested the return of her engagement ring, despite her having paid for it herself, with his contribution being just one-fifth of the cost.
Kardashian and the former NBA player married in 2011 but split after just 72 days. Their whirlwind romance began in 2010 when Humphries' New Jersey Nets teammate, Jordan Farmar, introduced them in New York. Their divorce was finalized in June 2013.

Kim Kardashian recalls how her ex Kris Humphries forced her to give back engagement ring
During the March 13 episode of 'The Kardashians', Kim Kardashian reflected on her ex-husband Kris Humphries' role in their engagement ring and divorce settlement.
While chatting with her sister Khloe Kardashian, Kim mused about her future ring shape, saying, "I wonder what my next ring shape will be — on my last and final hoorah."
She then took a trip down memory lane, reminiscing about each of her three engagement rings. "Number one was a cushion cut, 14-karat," she recalled, referring to her four-year marriage to Damon Thomas.
Her second engagement ring, given to her by Humphries, was an 18-karat emerald cut from Lorraine Schwartz.

Kim revealed, "I didn’t keep that." She went on to explain that she was still married to Humphries and pregnant with her daughter, North West, when he demanded she return the ring as part of their divorce.
"I was pregnant with [daughter] North [West], still married to him and in order to divorce him, he said I had to give him the ring in my divorce," she shared.
The situation was made even more difficult when Kim revealed that she was the one who had paid for the ring. "He contributed a fifth," she clarified.

"Jesus," her hairstylist and friend Chris Appleton exclaimed, calling the situation "savage."
Schwartz, who was with Kim and Khloe on their trip to Mumbai for the July 2024 Ambani wedding (which was featured in the episode), reassured Kim that getting rid of the ring was for the "best." However, she admitted, "But I would’ve loved a collection."
According to E! News, the ring was an 18-carat emerald-cut diamond. After their divorce was finalized, Kris auctioned the ring for $749,000. A representative for the former NBA player stated in 2013, "The ring is indeed Kris' property that he received through his marriage dissolution."
Kim Kardashian rarely talks about her brief marriage to Kris Humphries
This isn't the first time Kim Kardashian has opened up about her brief marriage to Kris Humphries, as per People.
Over the years, she rarely discussed their short-lived relationship, but she's occasionally revisited the topic.
For instance, after her sister Khloe Kardashian reconciled with her ex-husband Lamar Odom, Kim jokingly asked, "Should I call Kris Humphries?" to her sister and mom, Kris Jenner. Khloe humorously responded, "That's what I said. Get all the ex-husbands on here."
In 2021, Kim admitted she "felt pressured" to go through with her 2011 wedding to Humphries, partly because it was being filmed for 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians'.
"I thought, 'Okay, we're filming this for a TV show. If I leave, I'm going to be known as the runaway bride forever and it's going to be a huge joke, and I think I just have cold feet.' So I was like, 'Okay guys, it's just cold feet, I got this, it's cold feet, we're filming the show,'" she explained.
"I was so nervous to break up with someone, I handled it totally the wrong way. I fully broke up with him in the worst way, and I couldn't. I just didn't know how to deal. I learned so much from it," she added.
