'Kristi is cooked': Internet trolls Kristi Noem after Trump's frustration over her dog-killing surfaces
PIERRE, SOUTH DAKOTA: Donald Trump has been privately criticizing South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem for writing about putting down her 14-month-old puppy in her soon-to-be-published memoir, according to the Rolling Stone.
These conversations have taken place with Trump’s close political allies and other confidants as recently as in the past couple of days, where the 77-year-old MAGA strongman has brought up this topic to excoriate Governor Noem's political acumen and cast serious doubts over the likelihood of her ending up as his vice-presidential pick.
What did sources close to Donald Trump reveal about Governor Kristi Noem’s chances?
The present report is predicated on information provided by four sources familiar with the matter, and another two individuals who were briefed on it.
In the past few days, all sources, except one, voluntarily approached the aforementioned outlet to disclose recent discussions they had with the ex-Commander-in-Chief.

Some sources shared these private details candidly, stating that they intended to eliminate Kristi Noem from Trump’s 2024 vice presidential shortlist, or because they held a disdain for Corey Lewandowski, Trump’s former 2016 campaign chief who has advised Noem for years.
Others indicated that they were discussing this matter due to Trump's frequent mention of Gov Noem’s puppy execution, which they found to be “getting kind of ridiculous” and disgusting.

Additionally, some sources claimed that the 2024 presumptive GOP nominee has been “taunting” Noem behind her back.
The Guardian revealed last week that the South Dakota Governor wrote in her upcoming book about how she put to death her 14-month-old puppy, Cricket, a dog whom she "hated."
After the hunting dog, a Wirehaired Pointer, misbehaved and hurt several of her neighbor's chickens, Noem decided to take matters into her own hands by leading the puppy to a gravel pit and shooting her.

Noem wrote about this incident in her memoir, ‘No Going Back', scheduled for release next week, and former President Trump has consequently described Noem as a "tremendous leader" and her book as "a winner."
Over the last few days, sources have revealed that Trump has been discussing and bringing up Governor Noem’s dog-killing in closed-door meetings and over the phone.
Trump has reportedly asked pointed questions about her decision to kill the dog, such as "Why would she do that?" and "What is wrong with her?"

The former POTUS has expressed bafflement that she would ever admit to doing this, willingly and explicitly so in her book, and has argued that it shows she has a poor understanding of "public relations."
Furthermore, in these various conversations over the past week, the ex-president has mentioned that politicians who kill dogs are generally not popular with voters, according to two people familiar with the matter.
Governor Kristi Noem was previously looked upon as a potential running mate candidate for Trump's 2024 run for the US presidency in the upper echelons of the MAGA sphere.

However, she was often regarded as a longshot, and now, it seems that her hopes of securing a prominent post in a potential Trump administration have been all but shattered now.
According to a recent report by the aforementioned outlet, longtime allies and other conservatives close to Trump actively spread negative news stories about Noem and the slain dog in front of him to demolish any semblance of her becoming Trump’s VP pick.
During an appearance on Fox News on Wednesday, Noem justified her decision to execute Cricket, telling host Sean Hannity that the 14-month-old dog "was a working dog and it was not a puppy."

“The reason it’s in the book is because this book is filled with tough, challenging decisions that I had to make throughout my life,” she explained.
Gov Kristi Noem had been slated to headline a fundraiser this past Saturday for the Jefferson County Republicans in Lakewood, Colorado. However, the event was ultimately canceled alleging “safety concerns.”

"We were excited to have [Noem] speak at our annual fundraiser," the group stated in their post. "The timing was perfect, as it was just prior to her new book being released. We had no prior knowledge of the contents of the book when we invited her."
Due to the book's "mainstream media coverage," the group claimed to have received death threats and to have anticipated demonstrations at their event. The group said, “Please know that the Jefferson County Republican Party is not taking a position on the public outcry on the governor’s book.”
